No rhyme or reasonI don’t usually write poetry, and anyone who reads my ‘poems’ (and I use the word loosely) will easily understand why. But after four days of thunderstorms and dark gloomy skies, I was ‘naturally’ inspired. So here goes —
The Rain
Pounding against my window pane
My yard looks like the town drain
Squelchy shoes on the subway train
I lost my umbrella, what a pain.
This poem rhymes, but in vain
In meaningfulness, there is no gain
Further poetry, I should refrain
A sad excuse of a poet, I remain.

no pain no gain
try try and try again
till ya hit rhyme divine
do not ever refrain,
write write again
only fine way to train
wrack wrack your brain
till them words make a chain!

Stop ! Dont write anymore ..
you are much better at recounting old hindi film lore,
although cannot call your “attempt” at poetry a bore
it has a tendency to leave to leave you sore.
To write better poetry you need to look into you core.

It’s a cliche, but all journey’s begin with a step.
Personally, I never saw poetry as a product of inspired imagination - well, maybe sappy stuff. For me verse is the sustained by misery and all poetry is pain.
Just a thought.
You seem to have an eclectic mind and your blog makes for interesting reading.
Cheers

[Mudra] If a journey begins with a single step, I should rephrase my remark to say - if I ever intend on being a poet, I am many miles away from my destination today :) Then again.. another cliched-but-true thought comes to mind - it is the journey and not the destination that matters. So perhaps the process of learning to be a poet is what its all about. Just a thought..
Personally, I see poetry as a simple heartfelt emotion. The imagination however, comes into play in choosing metaphors that readers can relate to, thus allowing someone to share the emotion you feel. But then, that’s just me..
Thanks for visiting and the encouraging words!
