Happy Birthday, Bloggy!

Happy BirtdayYes, exactly one year ago, this blog was born. Any snickering along the lines of ‘ha ha, she celebrates her *blog’s* birthday! What a loser!‘ shall not be entertained, thank you very much. I for one am mighty proud that unlike a lot of passing fancies of mine, this has lasted and grown in (hopefully) the right direction. This is indeed an occasion of great significance. There is much joy and celebration all over, people are drinking themselves silly at parties around the world, songs are beings composed, poems are being written and other such good stuff. Oh c’mon, a girl should be allowed her delusions of grandeur no? They don’t call me a meg(h)alomaniac for nothing.

So, to commemorate this moment, the postal department was going to release a 2-cent stamp. (Yes it is a pun, so be nice and smile, will ya?) But some great historic leader turned 200 years old, so my blog promptly got dumped on the back-burner. *sob* So I did the next best thing. Redesigned it. So here you have it — *trumpets and drumroll* — A Walk In The Clouds, version 2.0. Brand spanking new and all that humbug.

They say that design should speak for itself. Which I am sure it will, once *I* stop talking. So here’s hoping you like this as much as the old one. Hm, maybe slightly more. (If you liked the old one more, too bad. You’re stuck with this.)

Happy blog reading!

    hey megha,
This blog certainly looks more formal than the previous one. And me one of those lucky ones, who really liked it more than the previous one (with no disrespect to your mocking ‘friend’, who found that one as the best thing in the world :-))
Guess my Miss Maslow has left me alone a good two weeks before the gala event. (~Hmmm, grow up kiddo, you got to do it alone :-D)
Ahh, I forgot, happy birthday to you. (Someone please devise some means to give/get treats online *sigh*)

    Yummy Template, Me Likeee.

Though I am suffering from a bout of writers’ block, and have failed to come up with anything in over a month, your template sure has inspired me to rehaul my own template. Now lets see how long this enthusiasm lasts :)

[Deepak] Thank you much! My blog was hajjar happy with the musical wishes! :)

[Rajesh] *looks suspicious at all the praise .. wondering to herself why he’s being so nice* :) Nah just kidding! And hey, not to worry, you still got to be the first doodler, with balloons and all to add! Thank you!

[Mad Van Arthur] Yes I am considering blog redesigning as an alternative career! :D

[Chugs] Thanks! You see, I am the Yeti - the abominable snowman. Why? Its known as Bigfoot, remember? :) On a more serious note, I think copyright notices are entitled to be as long as they please, and I really don’t think it detracts from the design in any way. Thanks for visiting! Come again!

[Anbu] Thanks! By the way, who were those people in the picture? ;)

[a-hem] Thankoo thankoo! It is the season for change I guess hm?

[.:A:.] Glad you like! Yes the voodoo notice was on the old one as well, but only since the last few weeks, so you might have missed it. You write wonderfully well and your other readers also share that opinion of mine, so for all our sake I hope you’ll make it to a year and more!

[tilotamma] Thank you! Nice to see you visit!

[suneet] Good good, it’s such a relief that you didn’t demand that I bring the old design back :) Oh and Miss Maslow has certainly not left you alone to face the impending event. Although this blog redesign has prevented her from focusing on her other roles lately. It’s just that she was just giving you some time to ruminate about what you’re about to do. There is such a thing as too much advice na? But now, with two weeks to the deadline, M&M (that’s Miss Maslow and Megha M both) is back in full force!

[aNTi] The blog’s name itself is [iii]’s suggestion, so all credit goes to him. But I do like the acronym! It reminds me of a name I was called once - A vile witch on a cloud. Something to do with my being a witch on a broom zooming through the clouds .. I was told. :)

[iii] The cloud hasn’t moved anywhere, you know? She hasn’t even changed the name of her home. She’s just .. um .. redecorated it. :) Glad you’re starting to like it! And oh, translate song lyrics, pleej?

[gvenum] Glad to see your side business is booming :) And thank you. Glad you liked the new look!

[Devdutt] Thankoo! And while you’re thinking about a template overhaul, how about considering starting a non-tech blog too?

[Sagnik] Thank you! It is a girl, for sure. It’s far too cutesy and girly to be a boy, methinks! As for what it wants to do when it grows up — its focus right now is to make sure it poops *in* its diaper and not in other unfavorable places. So the deeper philosophical questions of life will have to wait.

Once upon a time, in the mountains of Meghalaya, there was a baby boy cloud or BBC called Baadal. His favourite actor was Bobby Deol. But his mother cloud did not rate BD too high in terms of the acting coefficient and so she beckoned the Meghadoota and gave him certain instructions to carry out a secret, clouded operation. Meghadoota returned after completing the Meghamorphosis, carrying a female child. The change resulted in her being called Badli and this remarkable transformation left everyone awaak(surprised) in the clouds.

Badli was very bright. She poured of music, movies, poetry, philosophy, sunsets, sunrises, Sooraj Badh jaatas, books etorchestra..She could talk for nuts and everyone thought, ‘Sir mundaate hi chole pade’. She talked and people listened in rrapt attention. With every passing cloud, her popularity kept reaching new skies and her downpours drenched everyone - from Boston to Bhaagalpur and Dallas to Dombivili.

Waqt badla to baby ki tasveer bhi badli and she became sunnier. Her mom got her a bright new dress for her 1st b’day and threw a party where everyone came to participate in the revelry and congratulate the mom-baby duo. As the guests stood clapping and singing HBTY, they cut the cake and blew the candle(since it was Badli’s first b’day so there was only one candle) and pledged to rerain happily ever after.

Here’s to many sunnier posts and frequent downpours!
Cheers and Happy B’day to AWITC!

[oxy_moron] Someone once taught me that a story ought to be told the way it should have happened rather than the way it actually happened. With your tale, I now see exactly what they were talking about. Never knew one could romanticize the creation of a blog, but you have managed to do just that. And how wonderfully well, I might add! I am speechless. Also a li’l disoriented ‘cos of all the rolling on the floor laughing, but mostly just speechless. And as you know, that’s quite an achievement! :) Thankoo for that priceless story!

And I second [iii]’s opinion on your comments and your infrequent blog-writing. I understand that the quality more than compensates for the lack of quantity, but c’mon now, get over your mental blog, be nice to your adoring fans/loyal readers/whatever it is you want us to call ourselves .. and write!

[suneet] My fame was short-lived. I am no longer the most famous Megha. *boo hoo* Par chalta hai. Teaches you some hard lessons about how ephemeral fame and fortune are na? :) By the way, I wasn’t going to write about you and coffee-shop girl specifically, more in general about how, in the long run, it is better to express what’s in one’s heart, rather than keeping it all inside.

Its good to know you’re not some random stranger to her. I think it might help your case if she hears about you a li’l bit more though. Generally speaking I mean. ‘Suneet was the guy that led this team’, ‘Suneet is the best person for XYZ’ types .. just let her get familiar with who you are first. Do you have some friends who can be your messengers for this task of doing some name-dropping around her? By the way, I assume she’s a few years junior to you?

[Kumari] Thank you thank you! And not late at all. Party not over till the last guest leaves funda. Designer tuitons! :o When did I get so high-funda as to attempt stuff like that! :)

This design is really nice and so pleasant !! absolutely liked it. The balloon pic blends so well with the background. A minor thing I noticed - if the blogger search bar(or watever bar that is) at the top can be stretched the whole length of the screen, the look will be even cooler *me thinks* (my resolution is 1024*768). It covers the screen when the resolution is 800 by 600 though. Also, happy birthday bloggie :).

    congratulations on your blog.
[suneet and megha] - the ranking was because this blog owner might be leaving comments in blogs with her name and a link to this blog. Though done unintentionally in this case, its a common techinque used by people to increase their rankings. Google has now introduced a noflow tag for all comments, which might have changed the rankings.
Also one should learn to love before giving advice.
