Photoblog : Red, White & Boom!Red, White & Blue
4th of July fireworks
Boston, Massachusetts
Boom!
4th of July fireworks (over the Charles river and downtown)
Boston, Massachusetts
Methinks I have stirred enough hornets nests in the last few posts. Yes, I did ponder on the eternal ‘to bee or not to bee‘ question for a while before doing my keeda. So this time, I thought I’d stay mum. But they say a picture can be worth a thousand words, so I’m probably digging myself into a deeper hole here.
On that note, here’s a math-puzzle I was asking my sister the other day — If a picture is worth a thousand words, and Helen of Troy had a face that launched a thousand ships, what would the ship to word ratio be in a photo of Helen? Very straightforward answer. But strangely enough, my sweet sister threatened me with bodily harm instead. Wonder why?
Anyhoo, I’ve wanted to try my hand at fireworks photos for the longest time. And while these didn’t exactly turn out like I expected them to, I’m still fairly pleased. Has that whole happy joyous celebration feel to it, I think. A fleeting burst of energy and exuberance, captured forever!
Hope you all like this special double edition!

Damn, that is awesome!

[Christopher] Thank you! :) The fireworks were incredible!

Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 2:46 AM
Looks great. :)
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 4:18 AM
Metrying to answer your math question, but I have a doubt - Is ’ship’ a word or is ’ship’ a ship? :)
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 5:09 AM
Stunning photos from a Powershot A80..!! Awesome!!!
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 9:03 AM
Nice!! :)
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 9:10 AM
I lurveee 4th of July spectaculars ! Last year in Pitt, they had fireworks to the tune of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. Absolutely awesome.
I really should dust off those pics and start posting them. Saves me from thinking of something to write about ;)
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 10:08 AM
Amazing Pictures, the clarity is pretty nice for a night shot and with fireworks thrown in for the measure !!
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 10:37 AM
[Megha] Awesome!
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 10:38 AM
dazzling !
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 11:06 AM
Q. a picture is worth a thousand words.. .. the ship to word ratio be in a photo of Helen?
A. Zero
Photo of Helen cudnt draw a single ship, it was her face that did.
cool pics.. fireworks r (almost) always a treat for eyes .. & for digicams :)
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 12:19 PM
[Meghs] To bee or not to bee? grrrr… DO NOT talk about bees for the enxt week. (Or until I get better).. wondering what’s up? refer me blog! And oh yes, nice snaps! I got some on my cell phone, only for someone to delete it! :(
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 12:26 PM
Nice baby nice…what camera do you use?
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 3:35 PM
[Kiran Mayee] Thank you! I’ll give it a shot :)
[KJ] Not sure why you can’t view pics. Try to clear browser cache and load again? And Divya looks suchh an absolute darling! I loved the one in which you apparently yelled at her :) Glad you succeeded through Flickr!
[loverBoy] Thankoo! :)
[Bhim] With due apologies to Rudyard Kipling and his poem - The Ballad of East and West, I (mis)quote -
A word is a word, and a ship is a ship, and never the twain shall meet
A ship is an actual ship. And its not much of a puzzle really. Just a PJ-type thing designed to annoy my sister :) So please to not be spending too much brain-space on it, else you will be disappointed :)
[Magnus Astrum] Thank you! But how do you know they were taken with an A80? :)
[Devdutt] Thenkoo! Did you watch them live? :)
[Vignesh] Welcome to Boston! Your friendly tour guide shall finish the remaining portion of this comment :)
The Boston Pops Orchestra conducted by Keith Lockhart plays Tchaikovsky’s ‘1812 Overture‘ along with a number of other musical pieces in a live outdoors concert on the banks of the Charles River. This concert climaxes with Sousa’s ‘The Stars and Stripes Forever‘ ending in a 23 minute fireworks spectacular over the Charles, choregraphed to music. The concert is broadcast on speakers over the entire Boston riverside area as well as across on the Cambridge side (MIT campus and such) and the Harvard Bridge making it one of the largest areas and audiences for a concert and fireworks display!
Sorry, I cannot help gloat when it comes to Boston. Am sure Pittsburgh was awesome too ;)
[The Greatest Hokie Ever !!] Thank you! I’d like to go back there and do some night shots of downtown, this time without the fireworks. Lets see how it goes :)
[aNTi] Thankoo thankoo! :)
[pingoo] Ah he is back! Welcome welcome :) Well technically you were back on the last post itself, but since I’m replying here first, you are back here, first :) And thank you!
[Invincible] No no, this is not about whether the photo can launch a ship. You see, it’s about assigning objective values :) This is a picture of a face that could launch a thousand ships. And a picture is worth a thousand words. So independently, the picture has the values of a 1000 ships and a 1000 words assigned to it. Hence the ratio of 1:1 is perfectly valid. Even if the photo cannot launch a ship, it still cannot be zero :)
[Sriram] Ayyo, you got stung by a bee! I thought of several smartass responses to that so first I’ll list them all :)
1. Aww, that must really stink/g! :)
2. So tell me Sriram, what DID you do to piss off the bee?
3. I have just the right punchline to play in the background for you - Bee-man and the master of the universe! With you shouting ‘I have the poweerrrrrr!‘
Okie, now that we are done with that - Awwww, my sympathies. As someone who has been stung by a bee thrice in her life (and yes, I’ve heard all the ‘aww, that’s cos you’re sweet like honey’ lines, so don’t even go there) I completely understand the pain. And what is this? You’re the guy, so you’re supposed to be the bee, flitting around the flowers and wooing them and all. Not getting stung by one! Hope you feel better! :)
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 3:39 PM
[Gabby] Thankee! :) These were taken with a Canon PowerShot A80. Did you recover enough from the India trip to go watch the fireworks live?
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 3:41 PM
Nope…I got back that night, (Hmm…makes me wonder, why do we stretch our India vacations to utmost capacity?! We KNOW we’ll be in a bad shape, we KNOW we have to work the next morning…yet!)
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 3:54 PM
Did you watch them live?
Naah! I was watching the ‘Monk’ all day marathon on USA and dreading tuesday. :)
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 4:00 PM
[Gabby] Seriously! Every India trip I tell myself that next time I shall return on a Saturday afternoon, not on a Sunday night. But come ticket-booking time and I get totally greedy taking the last flight back into town. We’ll never sudhrofy I suppose :)
[Devdutt] What is this? Granted you’re a veteran in this town and all, but shouldn’t you be showing Prerna the sights and sounds of a new city? Monk marathon .. I must admit, that would be an awesome way to spend a lazy holiday :)
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 4:06 PM
*sighs, hearing about all the talk of India trip(s) and multiple ones at that
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 5:19 PM
:) What a coincidence! I saw Troy for the nth time last weekend!!
And I wont even dare answer the question - I am really bad with numbers and don’t want to be embarassed in public on your blog! LOL!!
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 9:56 PM
Nice. Almost felt like I was there. Was there anything special about fireworks this year? To tell you the truth, as far as I can remember, never in my lurking on the Charles for 4 odd years on stifling summer evenings smothered in the smell of fried dough, did the fireworks seem this colourful.
[Aside: You are, of course, aware of the SI units for beauty?]
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 @ 11:45 PM
Very nice, as always. Have to try my hand at fireworks sometime…
Thursday, July 14, 2005 @ 2:01 AM
yeeey!!! this double edition is doubly good :)Have taken some photos from our area fireworks too..will be posting it soon!
super ma :)
Thursday, July 14, 2005 @ 9:57 AM
[aNTi] Soon, Anti, very soon, I hope!
[missnupur] Nth time! I am yet to see it the first time :) And it’s not as complicated as think :) See, Helen’s face launched a 1000 ships. A picture is worth a 1000 words. So a picture of Helen’s face has a 1:1 ratio of ships to words right? :)
[Ludwig] Thankoo! I’ve always remembered the fireworks of Boston as being exceptionally colorful. Did you troll around Memorial Drive a very long time ago, perhaps? Or were you buried amidst the crowds near the Hatch shell?
Yes, have heard of Helens. (Thankoo for link, found some other interesting ones there!) In particular, I think the concept of a millihelen is sooo very adorable. Beauty that can launch one ship :) Always cracks me up, somehow. Yeah, I find humor in odd things, that way.
[Hawkeye] Ah, long time no see! How be you? And thank you! :)
[IBH] Thankoo thankoo! Looking forward to seeing your pictures! Post soon :)
Thursday, July 14, 2005 @ 3:03 PM
Haaaarrrr.. shiver my timbers. me gonna harpoon myself a land lubber in Boston. (That there is pirate talk, resulting from the overdose of whatever chemicals that darn bee injected in my hand, which by the way is swollen like a baseball bat). and no, me is not yet Bee-man or a master of the universe.
awww.. sweet as honey? maybe u need to have a close encounter with a Grizzly bear. ;).. and me didn’t do anything to piss off the bee! damn thing stung me for no reason! Why me? Me is never mean to anyone (*snicker*).. me is always nice to people! oh well, life is unfair..
(rolls around in laughter after trying to put up a serious face)
Thursday, July 14, 2005 @ 4:25 PM
[Sriram] You’re the guy, so you’re supposed to be the bee, flitting around the flowers and wooing them and all. Dude, this smells of a conspiracy! Don’t ever go into the flowers and even if you do, make sure there is no photographic evidence!
*cringes from the memory of the tulips!
[Megha] Soon, hopefully soon.. *sigh*
Thursday, July 14, 2005 @ 4:48 PM
wow! two pictures and some words - now given your formula - that must be your longest ever post and still yeh dil mangey more :)
btw, you should have checked out the fireworks in San Diego :)
Thursday, July 14, 2005 @ 6:24 PM
[Sriram] Oooh nice accent, matey! Where from? Multiple viewings of Pirates of the Carribean, perhaps? Sighhh .. Johnny Depp. Ooh, that reminds me, his movie is out this weekend - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!
As for the bee’s sting operation and antidotes for it, one bit of advice - Ice Ice baby! :)
[aNTi] Tulips eh? That was a pretty neat pun, although I’m not sure if you meant it to be one :) And what photographic evidence should we be looking for? ;)
[Sagnik] Aw, thank you :) This Bostonian cannot help quote Prem Chopra from Khel (1992) in response, and say - Am sure the fireworks of San Diego were good, but the fireworks in Boston were better, much better ;)
Thursday, July 14, 2005 @ 8:01 PM
[Megha] So you missed my tulips misadventure huh? Atleast one of your Bostonian pals had a field day! :p
And for the next couple of weeks, whenever I had a post on issues that couldn’t be commented upon, the clamor to post a picture became huge! But one bitten, twice shy!
Thursday, July 14, 2005 @ 9:23 PM
Really nice photos. Disappointing post - too short, for one thing!
J.A.P.
Thursday, July 14, 2005 @ 11:06 PM
that’s it! last straw. that gives me enuff motivation to get a camera. been w/o one for some time now :(
super ulti pics! i saw the stunning show (okie, not the li’ll one at bo(a)ston, though i’m sure mine were better :P)…but the best part was the smell of fireworks…ahhh, it was direct short circuit to diwali and home :)
Thursday, July 14, 2005 @ 11:24 PM
Simple.. all Digital Photos have ‘Exif’ data embedded into them. As a person having avid interest in the details of the photos like Exposure, Shutter Speed and other stuff.. usually i do download them and view them using the software that comes with the digicams.. they show everything from what camera is used to the other details including the time it was taken..! Also, in Flickr there is a separate link to view the image information! :-)
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 12:34 AM
[aNTi] Yes I did, it seems! When was this? Link please? This Bostonian also wants to have a field day .. in the tulips of course! :)
[JAP] Thankoo! Too much talking detracts from the pictures though, don’t ya think? Will make it up in due course, no fikar :)
[karan] Thankoo! And good good, does this mean you’ll finally have a blog of your own where you’ll put up your li’l town pictures? ;)
[Magnus Astrum] Oh yes, of course! I didn’t realize you did all that, hence the immediate curious question :) Nice to know another detail-oriented photography enthusiast!
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 1:42 AM
i’ve been wanting ot do the same too!! click fireworks! :)
n boy, did tehy ring in my budday in style!;o)
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 2:13 AM
1:1
cool pics by the way :)
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 5:52 AM
Neat pics these are!
Now the funny thing is that I’ve been clicking the perfect antithesis to ones posted here - black and white pictures of (mostly) water droplets!
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 6:25 AM
[Megha] Me giving u the link on here will be misconstrued by at least one of your fellow Bostonians as an attempt to get comments. Nah…If you are interested, take a look at my archives ;)
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 10:38 AM
Word has it that “Helen” is a unit for feminine beauty. For example, the magnitude of beauty sufficient to launch one ship is a micro-Helen, and so on.
- A passerby
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 11:25 AM
Oops…I realize that this observation has already been made in the 39 other comments that preceded, and to compound this I’ve confused 10^(-6) with 10^(-3).
[note to self: check related literature and accuracy of units before publishing comments]
:A a-sad-attempt-to-pass-off-as-a-geek passerby
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 11:31 AM
Now if a Helen could launch a thou ships, I am pretty sure a micro-mini-[clad]-Helen would launch zillion ships :)
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 12:15 PM
I would publish the video I took of the fireworks, on my website.. soon :)
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 12:26 PM
[shub] Ah! We have another ‘born-on-the-Fourth-of-July-er’ ! :) My sister is one, and she never lets me forget that the whole country celebrates her birthday in style, either! Belated happy birthday! :) And all the best on new beginnings in a new place! Hope you are liking it there?
[phatichar] Most excellento. See, this is why I never understood why my sis picked up the baseball bat. That too over the phone! And thankoo, glad you liked the pics! :)
[Deepak] Thank you! As for your pictures of raindrops - they are truly wonderful! I’ve gushed and raved about it enough on multiple occasions on your blog already, so will spare you yet another round of it. But good work, Deepak! You’re doing your new camera proud :)
[aNTi] You’re gonna make me hunt, eh? Fine, I shall do that. Let it not be said that I am not willing to work hard for a chance to pick some tulips. Or to pick on someone :)
[A passerby] You’ve written the comment and its response as well, so I suppose I could just nod and smile at this point? :) Where from passing by, if I may ask?
[VC] Now THAT is a thought, indeed! :) If I had one regret for this post, it was its lack of connection to Bollywood, which you have now gone and fulfilled. Thankoo much for that! *exits singing piya tuuuuuuuuuu ab to aaja .. *
[Priyavadan] Ah wonderful! Look forward to seeing the fireworks! And nice to see you drop in a comment this time :)
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 12:29 PM
am I making a habit of dropping in too much?
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 1:06 PM
Omigod Megha, don’t tell me you haven’t seen Anti’s tulips…(ok that came out sounding “odder” than I wanted it to)!
Here you go:

I uploaded it on yousendit.com since I am in office and can not ftp to my webserver, thanks to firewalls.
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 2:46 PM
[Gabby] GOD! :O Tera number bhi aayega!
*shakes his head in silent agony at the rampant trampling of innocent minds by the “ah so clever” ones of this world!
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 2:47 PM
[Priyavadan] Nah, drop in as often as you want. No such thing as ‘too much’ :)
[Gabby] *howling with laughter* Just for sharing that link you have my eternal gratitude! And my unstopabble guffaws too! :D *ROTFL all over again* I guess I missed this post of aNTi’s while I was scurrying around getting last minute stuff done before my vacation. Tsk tsk :)
[aNTi] That picture is .. *choke* *wiping tears* .. priceless! :)
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 2:47 PM
[Priyavadan] Wonderful! Checking it out now :)
[aNTi] Now now, don’t be mean to Gabby. She was just doing a service for the greater good of mankind! And ‘soft core of violent volcano‘? I am imagining a movie poster of a 80s south-Indian hero, full with oiled and twirled moocha and all, standing tall .. camera angle from his feet, total ‘gentle man of the masses whose inner volcano has been woken up to fight against the wrongs of the society‘ and all .. and now I have aNTi’s face to superimpose on this movie poster. Ah the little joys of life! :)
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 3:01 PM
[Megha] One innocent picture and a guy becomes a laughing stock. :p
And to think the pic was taken when I did not expect it! But hey, I am glad to provide some joys for this world! :p
And what was that about a vacation? *AGAIN*! I thought u just got back from one!
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 3:18 PM
lucky people talking about vacation, I had my vacation cancelled thanks to the my departmental manager getting psyched up due to the Q2 losses. argh am gonna miss manchester !!
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 3:24 PM
[aNTi] Nah, not going on a vacation again! I was just saying that I missed your phulwa photo cos you wrote that post just before I left for my vacation so I was busy scrambling around getting last-minute stuff done. And what a loss it would have been, had it not been for Gabby and the darling that she is! :)
But yes, I must agree with the innocent part. Total ‘raamudu manchi baaludu‘ types. (Need translation?) It is a concept that Gabby will be very familiar with, am sure :)
[Priyavadan] Those ‘lucky‘ people got to take a vacation after a good two years, so pliss to not be jealous of them. Manchester, UK or one of the seven Manchesters in the US? :)
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 3:33 PM
Manchester,UK and the reason why I am cribbing is I myself havent taken a vacation in 2 years but moreover my family’s visiting UK for my cousin sisters wedding. I remember Mommy dearest *sob*
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 3:45 PM
Hey Megha,
Came here from your comment on my blog. Must say you’ve got a good thing going. The photos are fabulous.
I’ve linked your blog in mine.
-Salman’s Shirt
http://salmansshirt.blogspot.com
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 4:08 PM
Hee Hee “raamudu manchi baaludu” has me bent over double with stiches on my sides so typing is haaard!!!
Ah, now I know peace, knowing that nobody has been spared the joy :)
Anti, even now you can salvage what is left by confirming that you were just doing your “business” there!
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 4:18 PM
[Priyavadan] Aww, all this missing home and mommy is a genuine sentiment that I cannot mock, so you’ve compelled me to be nice :) Cool fireworks, interesting ‘wow’-peppered audio track!
[Salman’s Shirt] Last I remember seeing you, you were tossed aside and languishing in a li’l heap in Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega, and now after all these years, I find you on my blog! Well, technically I found you on your blog first, but it just made for better drama, so I fudged facts a little bit :) Very neat blog you have, loved the Sidhu-isms! Glad you liked the pictures and much thanks for the link. Hope to see you around again!
[Gabby] I knew you’d get much happiness out of that one :) Eagerly awaiting Anti-boy’s confession.
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 5:11 PM
aha, i managed to not get mocked by “the” megha, baapu I am good :D
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 5:30 PM
[Priyavadan] Objection milord! I do NOT mock my readers! I mock Tusshar Kapoor, Deepak Parashar, Bappi Lahiri, Anu Malik, Esha Deol .. well a pretty long list there, but I repeat, I do NOT mock my readers! Hmpfh.
*walks away shaking head* There is no justice in this world, I tell ya!
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 5:44 PM
Ah but that *sob* was begging to be, no? No?
*wicked grin*
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 5:54 PM
[Gabby] Of course, by *sob* you mean ’sweet old boy’, don’t you?
*angelic halo around face*
Friday, July 15, 2005 @ 6:01 PM
[aNTi] Aww buddy! someone gave the link before i could. You are off for one day bee-cause of some reason and someone steals the spotlight.. Gabby… nooooooo! how could you do it? Oh what? that’s done a long time back?
[Meghs] Now what’s this naaansense about Halo around face? You silly gal. Halo is shampoo. you put shampoo on head with hair. (No! Salman Khan’s head is exempted!) you don’t put Halo on or around face. hopefully, you’ve learned a vital lesson today. Incase you need yen-light-en-ment, the lesson is “Shampoo goes into eyes, then eyes get red. eyes get red, then eyes get strained. eyes get strained, then you can’t see. you can’t see, then you can’t type. you can’t type, then you can’t respond to comments.” so be wise and use shampoo wisely! (Ah! I can see so many enlightened people!! what? those are torches and people running towards me? ok, time to go into a bomb shelter!) :D
Saturday, July 16, 2005 @ 12:16 AM
I faced tragedy at 4th July fireworks, now tht I’ve got myself a new digicam(major upgrade from a film camera I owned all these years) i was so excited to click some fireworks snaps…i take my cam to the waterfront n jst when fireworks begin i realize i’d forgotten charged batteries @ home :|
n dnt underestimate the complexity of ur coined math problem!
Saturday, July 16, 2005 @ 3:37 AM
[Megha] Ofcourse i know what “Ramudu Manchi Baludu”, though the first line that came to my mind is the “Manchiga Bluega untadu” line from “kukka kavali”. And its Saturday and I heard the song again last night! Btw, is that Ramudu line from a song?
[Gabby] Nah, like i said, i hate the “open university” types. I do my business in seclusion! :p
[Sriram] Maaantha vaangitaanga da. Chey!
Saturday, July 16, 2005 @ 8:59 AM
Jhakkaas photu hai bidu!!
Ek dum rapchandhus!!
Bole to…apun bhee …tere blog ko link lagaya …chalega kya!?
Sunday, July 17, 2005 @ 3:56 AM
Awsome pictures !! Or should I say awsome fireworks and a good photographer ?
Sunday, July 17, 2005 @ 3:00 PM
[Sriram] Thankoo for the Japanese lightbulbs. And Halo eh? What would I do without you to explain the finer nuances of angel-hood to me?
[Mustang] Awww. But look at it this way - you got the ‘forgot batteries’ step done and over with early on itself, so it’ll hopefully not come back to haunt you.
And pray tell, what be this complexity I am missing? All I see is silliness everywhere.
[aNTi] No no, not from a song. This origin of this phrase lies in one of the very first Telugu sentences one learns as a kid in school. Of course, having never taken Telugu as a language at school, I can only speak based on hearsay. Telugu textbooks that taught sentence construction would have a picture of an angelic goody-two-shoes boy and teach you the sentence ‘Ramudu manchi baaludu‘ which literally translates to ‘Ramu is a good boy’.
The equivalent of this in an English textbook would go something like this -
(picture of boy) - This is Ramu.
(picture of boy with schoolbag) - Ramu goes to school everyday.
(picture of boy doing his homework) - Ramu does his homework everyday.
(picture of boy smiling sweetly and politely) - Ramu is a good boy.
Over time, the phrase RMB came to be associated with anyone who is the very epitome of good-boy-ness. Someone who looks like Ramu did in that textbook. The bhola-bhala seedha-sadha, doodh ka dhula, achha bachcha types. Now you know why I used it to describe you :) Hopefully, in the process, I won you some points in Anti-curious’s books :)
[sanky] Daudega boss, daudega :) And thankoo!
[Debalina] Whichever of the two you decide to say, thank you for both :) Glad you liked!
Monday, July 18, 2005 @ 6:59 AM
Wow.. The pics I took didn’t come out half as well.. Nice blog btw.. :-)
Monday, July 18, 2005 @ 11:01 AM
[Megha] Pretty much got a similar explanation from my own sources yesterday. But they couldn’t help observe that the term is mostly used sarcastically. So..hmmm..
Btw, who is this Anti-Curious? You and your Bostonian friend sure made IT go all silent! But i am not complaining in any way. Definitely!
Monday, July 18, 2005 @ 2:58 PM
[Leon] Thank you! Am fairly happy with the pictures for a first effort, but there’s tons of room for improvement, IMO. Thanks for stopping by! Hope to see you around again :)
[aNTi] Damn, you found out about the sarcastic part eh? ;)
Anti-curious is an Anti-fan. So surely you are a better person than I to answer the big ‘who is she‘ question? But she seems terribly shy, so much that she hasn’t yet left Gabby’s space to set foot on my blog, forget yours. But we are trying to do our part in reassuring her that you are a good boy and a RMB, even if a tad bit RC. See, aren’t you glad you know us? ;)
Monday, July 18, 2005 @ 3:08 PM
[Megha] What’s with all the talk about Anti-C being a “she”! I might be RC, but I ain’t crying out to be helped! But, surely, I am glad that I “know” you guys! ROTFL…
Monday, July 18, 2005 @ 5:33 PM
[aNTi] How do you know Anti-C is NOT a she? And whoever said you cannot have a male fan?
It is completely our pleasure. Am sure Gabby will wholeheartedly agree :)
Monday, July 18, 2005 @ 5:36 PM
[Megha] Hmmm.. I’d never like to raise my hopes to a zenith and be pushed with a single fingernail’s touch from the likes of Bostonians like you and hence this assumption.
Ya, I don’t care as long as I have fans. I live for my fans and I toil for their appreciation. Gawd, I am starting to sound like that wet-from-rain-water black shirt wearing guy who dances with Shilpa Shetty! Must be the effect of the tasty and spicy saambhar I made for myself and the roomies just now!
Monday, July 18, 2005 @ 8:49 PM
did someone call me a ’sweet old boy’

[aNTi] Sambhar is always yum yum! And excooj me, Anti-C is not a creation of our imagination! We are merely encouraging her in the right direction! But .. *sniffle* .. if our heart-felt efforts are viewed as nothing but a way of entertaining ourselves, we Bostonians shall quietly slink away.. *sob* *honk into tissue*
[Priyavadan] As I always say - people should be allowed their delusions ;)

Great! Now I have learnt a sentence in Telegu.
That was beautifully written, Megs. The best part was ‘bhola-bhala, seedha-sadha, doodh ka dhula, achha bachcha’.
Like your posts, your readers’ comments and your replies are as interesting…

[Magnus Astrum] Sure Anand, you are welcome to use it! Thank you for crediting the source and all. Yesh, that would be me :)
[loverBoy] Thank you! Am happy to know that my random comment reply actually helped, even if it is one sentence of Telugu! Thank you for dropping in and being a regular reader of my blog! :)

[Meghs] Glad to know my Japanese light bulbs helped! Now, for Halo, thankoo! now that me ekshplained it, you shall not get watery eyes! did I just hear you say Sambhar is yum? apparently, you haven’t tasted anything my roomie makes. He makes anything that sounds yum, turn into YUCK instantly! talent you see! Now, I shall proceed with my “bloggers against unethical treatment of aNTi” campaign and thou shall be my first member (err.. victim?)
[aNTi] Female fans eh? ensoy! refer above movement! what say? ;) who this aNTi_c?
Tuesday, July 19, 2005 @ 3:36 PM
[Sriram & aNTi] BAUTA?! See what you have caused, aNTi! And here I was, innocently trying to get Anti-C closer to you and your blog :)
Okie, no more playing cupid. I shall retire my matchmaker’s cap. At least until my next post :)
Tuesday, July 19, 2005 @ 3:53 PM
[Megha] We RC’s need all the help we can get. So feel free to wear your cap anytime you want. You just shldnt be too aggresive. You just scared Anti-C away this time. That’s a great loss if Anti-C actually happened to be a gal!
[Sriram] Paravailla da! It’s ok. I am coming out of this smelling like a rose by being a good sport. So you can put off yout BAUTA andolan by a few…

[aNTi] I am inclined to believe that more than Anti-C, it is you who got scared :) And you are talking to a matchmaker who has had a 100% success rate till now. So please to give some credit to my MM skills, thank you very much :)

[Megha] Scared? Who me? If you’d look at the conversation you might find that I was the one initiating the exchange of information and ideas. Anyways, since Anti-C is not around, my lips will be zipped now…

I just wanted to know that the photographs you posted were captured by you.

[aNTi] Okie baba, accepted. You are not scared. But I still think it wasn’t Gabby and my pushing but your doubting her gender that scared her off. Imagine - a gal shyly comes and tells you she has a soft corner for you, and what do you do? Suggest that she is not a girl. Tsk tsk, aNTi. Aisa kaise chalega!
[ash] Yes they are.
