Sax and violins

There has been way too much mushy love on my blog lately. Gooey Hallmarky stuff. Bleh. And as any self-respecting Bollywood-obsessed person will tell you, where so much love exists, some gratuitous sex and violence have to soon follow. So here’s a story to please the masses. You can leave the pennies and 1 rupee coins at the door as you exit. Thankoo.

Yash Chopra Presents — Parr
(a Bollywood song-and-dance routine, with inspired interruptions from Hitchcock)

(Prologue in Amitabh’s voice)

This ditty has no pity,
This isn’t a story for the itty-bitty.
It tells the story of a fowl most foul,
The kind you want to disembowel.

Ugly birdie flying high,
dropped a message from the sky
“Oh”, said the blogger wiping her eye,
“It’s a good thing that bulls don’t fly!”

Once upon a time, there was a girl. Think of a Chopra/Johar heroine in a white salwar kameez who has nothing to do in life except skip gaily through hills and valleys with a mandatory vibrant dupatta fluttering in the background, be annoyingly chirpy and hum wordless la la laaaa laaa la la songs in Lata’s voice. Yep, Aishwarya in Mohabbatein types. (Please to note her character’s name in the movie. Yikes!)

Now, this girl loved to tell stories. Some real and some make-believe. So she started a li’l corner where she narrated her tales. You modern day techie folks call it a blog or something similar, but this was a long time ago, and we simply called it a story-telling place. Meghalaya, if you insist.

Now, so vain and self-obsessed was she, that she used her own name in a movie title to name her little corner. Even the address of her home was a variation of her initials. And just in case people didn’t get that it was *her* place, she put a bunch of clouds all over her area. Feeling suitably satisfied at the subtleties, she went on to tell her stories. At first nobody came. But slowly they started to arrive. I mean gradually, not in a running-in-slow-motion sort of way. People came, listened and shared better stories of their own. After all, who can resist talking about painful childhood memories of crappy Hindi films and bad PJs? So all the boys and girls bonded, loved each other and lived like one big happy org .. oops, I mean family. *lots of passionate sax playing in the background to set the mood* Lots of love everywhere. The girl sang dream sequence songs about the colors of her bangles and the tinkling of her earrings and how they reminded her of her hero Aryan while the chorus sang le ja le ja, soniye le ja le ja along with customary hand movements.

But one day the dark clouds rolled in. Dark clouds, but no rain — Lagaan style. Accompanied by a flap-flap sound. Thinking it to be her hero Rahul arriving, she hurriedly finished singing the title song and rushed to the window, hoping to spot the all-familiar black helicopter .. alas .. to find a big bird, instead. On further observation it turned out that he wasn’t the cute Maine Pyar Kiya courier bird bringing her a pehle pyaar ki pehli chitthi either. Instead he was a jealous psycho bird. Well, he was also ugly, but we try to not let our bias for pretty people show too much. It seems he wasn’t getting any worthwhile roles so he wanted to try his luck with the Chopra camp. He made enquiries on how to get in. But her happy family wasn’t looking for a pet, so they politely told our feathered friend to find himself another project. But he wouldn’t listen. Five times a day he stalked the studio creating a stink and demanding an audition. Finally they had to explain it to him that the fluffy white doggy had already been cast and he could even play cricket, so the bird didn’t stand a chance.

But birdie didn’t take kindly to rejection. Which, when you think about it, was odd, considering he had a lifetime of it to be used to. Angrily he flapped his wings and tried to poop on the entire scene. Total crapola, I say! Now, I don’t know about you, but Meghalaya is a country located right in the middle of a Chopra movie set, where anything dirty and unpleasant like pooping on people is a crime. Every dried leaf is strategically floated by for effect, and every sunshine-yellow curtain is meant to shimmer just so. Houses are mansions, people take private jets to the mall and wear designer labels when they sleep. They also wear the clothes that come attached to the labels, not to worry. And nothing and nobody is allowed to be ugly and dirty. Things are spotless white and squeaky clean and whatever needs to be done will be done, to keep it that way.

So the plan was made. The bird was sweetly invited inside for an audition, the spot-boys and assistants were called in at the right time, and the super-sized bottle of industrial-strength bleach was pulled out. And the deed was done. *violins playing appropriate shrill notes to create a sense of a bird-like creature scratching and clawing* They say implicit violence has a lot more impact, so I’ll leave it to your imagination to paint the rest of the picture. But if you need help, wacko + bird + violence reminds one of sheer Hitchcock-ian brilliance and I do love it when the dots connecteth.

But violence leaves incriminating evidence, so every now and then you might see a bleached feather float by, or poop stains of a ghost bird. Not to worry, our art director will airbrush those out soon enough. Feathers will turn to flower petals and the stain will become rain. And all will be well in the world once again.

Much celebrations happened throughout the land, the girl once again sang happy songs, this time about the colors of her mehndi and the decorations of her doli while the chorus sang lene tujhe o gori, aayenge tere sajna. Raj stood with his arms outstretched, as she ran towards him in slow motion synchronized with the flap-flap of the real helicopter this time. The scene melted into soft-focus and then became a blur of dupattas as the highly sentimental aaaaaaa and oooooo chorus version of the title song drowned out all signs of screechy psycho birds. On the screen the words flashed — The End.

(Epilogue, again in Amitabh’s voice)

This blog is much like a movie set,
It would make an art director proud.
Not a leaf looks ugly,
Nor a doggy barks too loud.

We keep this page a pleasant place,
With lots of laughing and singing.
But we’re not a bunch of idiots,
If that is what you’re thinking.

So, if you’re looking to join the fun,
“Well sure, do come right in!”
But if you’re looking to crap on us,
There’s a bottle of Clorox waitin’!

[iii] Glad you liked! You are better off not knowing who the black-thing is, trust me :) And see, by asking specifically about Raj, you have hurt the feelings of Rahul and Aryan. All Yash Chopra heroes deserve the same treatment. They do wear the same clothes, strike the same poses and have the same actor playing them for the most part, after all. No group dynamics here, just a lone sociopath. And the violence - when Ramu (that’s Ram Gopal Verma for you) does it, it’s called, hard-hitting, gritty and real and when I do it, it is disturbing? You are most unfair :) I shall promptly stock up on Wescodyne, thank you for the tip!

[Swathi] We are simply inspired, what to do. But thank you. Am happy you likes! :)

[Anyesha] So glad you noticed that she has multiple heroes! That was a subtlety I was hoping wouldn’t get missed, so am very happy. But let me explain, pliss :) Raj, Aryan and Rahul - all of them do the outstretched arms thingy. It is just that some of them do it in dream songs, while some others do it with chopper in background. But please to note that this is a Yash Chopra heroine. She doesn’t need hero to do dishum dishum-ing of the baddies, even the psycho Darr kind. The baddies are drowned in bleach and turned into pretty white fluffy pigeons, or better yet, simply airbrushed out of the picture, so our heroine can go back to singing happy songs in her elaborate ghaghras. Nice no? :)

Confusing post, considering I don’t watch that many Hindi movies, particularly those with black dresses, helicopters, scottish castles in addition to stuttering dudes with outstretched hands and dudettes (if no one has used this term yet, I’ll file a patent claim) running in sync with the sound of the whirly bird’s rotor!
Anyways, there seems to be an underlying positive thread in the whole post and I think I get that ;)
But casting three different dudes opposite the dudette is sacrilege and an insult to all Versace (in black) wearing dudes all over the world!

[Australopithecus] There’s no room for poverty in a Yash chopra film, of course. But we could get one of our resident art film makers to take up your case, if you’d like. Speaking of which (well not really, but that’s always a good way to segue) - I have always meant to ask you - did you assemble the contents of the scene for the Bunty aur Bubli photo PJ on your blog, or did it just happen? Either way, it is priceless and one that I love to narrate to many a friend! With due credit and all, of course :)

[aNTi] It confuses you hm? Perhaps you haven’t had a chance to make acquaintance of certain people, that’s why. Yes, there is a very positive intent behind this post and that is to keep this blog a happy place! Glad you managed to get that despite my hiding it under many layers of Bollywood mush :) And pray tell, why can we not have a love quadrangle in a Chopra-fest? Although in this case, there’s only one hero and the point I’m trying to make is that all Chopra heroes are interchangeable, since they all look, act and talk the same anyway :)

[phatichar] Thankoo. Aur hum comment response bhi tabhi likhenge :)

Btw, don’t you have a role for a cute kid from middle school who wants to ask the heroini for a date on Halloween? You can give him a pagdi and make him count stars at night!
And then when the heroini runs into Raj’s arms he can sit next to the copter pilot and do a “balle balle” in the background partly obscured by the “blur of dupattas”!

[aNTi] You don’t let me forget Kyle, do you? :) I love the cute sardarji kid casting idea! His pagdi can match the heroine’s dupatta and the art director will be happy too! But please please, we have to work a scene into the script where he gets to say - tusi jaa rahe ho? tusi na jaao. THAT is a must!

Es brillante. Reminds me of a few lines by Yeats, from a poem with the same name as your foul fowl.
    ‘Call down the hawk from the air;
Let him be hooded or caged
Till the yellow eye has grown mild.
For larder and spit are bare,
    The old cook enraged,

Nice! Hope foul fowl is gone for good.

Otherwise, you may have a situation where ‘The Birds’ is a more appropriate Hitchcockian reference than ‘Psycho’….:). Ah, Psycho, a freakishly good movie…..and who but Hitchcock would have the guts to kill his heroine off before the end of the first half of the movie? After all, in the Chopra/Johar world, the heroine comes back to haunt one even from the grave (read: your namesake from Mohabbatein)!

But, you must admit, not all Chopra movies have had chiffon-clad babes dancing in the Alps (I have always wondered, do they not feel COLD?). Ittefaq? Kaala Patthar? Deewar?

My donations, in homage to this excellent post, go here….thanks!

HWSNBF: Would have thought the Yeats poem would have precisely the opposite implication - not so much an annoyance as a beauty too terrible to be borne. This on the other hand…

“It was getting dark so suddenly that Alice thought there must be a thunderstorm coming on. `What a thick black cloud that is!’ she said. `And how fast it comes! Why, I do believe it’s got wings!’

`It’s the crow!’ Tweedledum cried out in a shrill voice of alarm: and the two brothers took to their heels and were out of sight in a moment.

Alice ran a little way into the wood, and stopped under a large tree. `It can never get at me HERE,’ she thought: `it’s far too large to squeeze itself in among the trees. But I wish it wouldn’t flap its wings so–it makes quite a hurricane in the wood– here’s somebody’s shawl being blown away!”

    - Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking Glass

Note to Director: Just replace shawl with Dupatta and you’re all set.

    [Priyavadan] Thankoo thankoo :)

[HWSNBF] Thank you! And see what you did there now? By quoting Yeats, you gave this post some undeserving respectability. Thank you much for that :)

[Sriram] If you ask questions like that, I shall announce to the world that *you* are the bird and your profanity-ridden posts will make that claim most believable too. Then you try figuring out a way to escape the Clorox bottles! *scowl* And your voodoo threats are very smartly timed, I notice. You know I write once a week, so you always show up with your ‘where is your next post‘ question exactly one day short of one week. Don’t think I didn’t notice that :) Kilroy is gone. He has been pending an exit since a while, so I finally did the deed.

[anshul] Me me me! I wanna do the Sridevi voice please. I have been practicing it since I was a kid. Plus I have the whole Southie-speaking-Hindi accent going for me :) But damn, I left out the MMP angle. Although Chopra/Johar fests don’t usually have an MMP do they?

And that burdened time moving slower was painfully priceless. Took me several reads to figure it out even! Brilliant! :)

[Nandu] Thankoo! I actually did think of the Birds reference first, hence the title of my movie, but the murder sequence had to use the trademark shower scene with Bernard Herrmann’s violins in full force and all. And yes, bhoot-Megha is even more scary than Cushion-Kumar-loving Megha, don’t you agree?

I was hoping I would have a chance to say a thing or two about Yash Chopra :) In my opinion YC was a reasonably decent to good director when he did NOT produce the films he directed. As long as B R Chopra and Yash Chopra did not split and YC directed under the B R Films banner, he made good films - examples that come to mind are the star-studded Waqt (1965) or the thrilling Ittefaq (1969) with Rajesh Khanna in a rare performing role from his little-known pre-Aradhana days. Then he had some good output in the Gulshan Rai camp - Deewar (1975) - one of his best works (yes I did finally watch it, separate post on that), Joshila (1973) with Dev and Hema, another rare Sahir-RDBurman combo much like Deewar, and Trishul (1978) - a movie that rises above the average with Amitabh and Sanjeev’s exceptional performances.

But compare this with his own productions - Kabhi Kabhi (1976), Silsila (1981), Faasle (1985), Vijay (1988), Chandni (1989), Parampara (1993), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997) .. yes, I have some major issues with the first two movies on this list too although they are considered classics by many. I’ll get on a separate rant about that some other time :) Yes exceptions like Kaala Patthar (1979) and Lamhe (1991) exist, but for the most part YC’s self-produced directions have been pretty average. Wot say? :)

[Leon] Ah finally! Movies we can both relate to. Stone-age he says. Tsk tsk. And thank you. Glad you liked! But I am most displeased with myself. First the MMP and now the dropping necklines. So many little movie details that i’ve missed out on, in hindsight!

Hmmm…so who is this Black Bird you speak of? May I suggest he( or she for that matter) be redirected to Subhash Ghai’s set, where his lack of potty training might actually turn out to be an asset?

Anyways, did you really think you could slip a poetry post by me just by dressing it up as a bollywood critique/snide vendetta post??

    So here’s my limerick…

There was this belle from Meghal’ya,
Whose prose was wily enough to ensnarl ‘ya.
Double entendres, triple meanings and an innuendo,
And the subhaan allah’s of the fans reached a crescendo.
Meanwhile main to has-has ke paglaa gaya.

[Megha]: Aaaah Kyle! Now I won’t forget for sure. Omg, Amru kid playing a Sardarji with a pagdi, for kicks, just like Sivamani playing a Afro-American in that hilarious 80s Vijayshanthi movie that I saw the other day….
Coming back, Ya, that line is a musta. But as regards to the pagdi color matching with the dupatta, as the creative brain behind the whole ‘cute sardarji with pagdi, counting stars’ idea, I have to object! Already he is partly obscured by the blur of the dupatta and now if the pagdi is also of the same color, then pavam, chotu sardar will be obscured completely and his fans association will burn your effigy in front of theaters!
So, pagdi has to be a color that will not merge at all with the dupatta. If dupatta is green, then pagdi shall be red. You get the picture, don’t you?

Oooh, too many points to comment on….:)

    1. Valid and VERY INTERESTING argument about YC as director as opposed to YC as producer/director. I have some fairly negative views about Silsila/Kabhie kabhie too (and yes, a LOT of people will disagree!), except for some of the dialogues and of course, the music, I never quite understood the hype around those 2 movies.

    2. I have a whole diff concept of YC as moviemaker. Think he’s become a cookie-cutter movie maker. With the exception of Lamhe, most of his movies over the last decade or so, have been IMO very formulaic. What happened to the man who made Deewar/Trishul/Ittefaq/Kaala Patthar? What are these chiffon clad heroines and Shahrukh Khan complete-with-gelled-hair doing in his movies? And, where, on earth, is the STORY? Dil To Pagal Hai (ugh!) was basic love triangle in cool settings and designer outfits…

    3. Ah, you finally saw Deewar. Excellent move. And? What did you think? Let me be clear here, I think its easily one of YC AND Mr.B’s better movies. And, the background music was classic RD…But then, each to his own.

    4. Have finally decided to start blog. Am working on initial post. Will be about music of the 80s, when I went to school. Hasan Jahangir (of Hawa Hawa and Aaja Na fame) and Bappi Lahiri feature prominently. Will post link when I get around to actually embarassing myself by putting this online…:)

[Devdutt] I have GOT to write more poetry for the singular purpose of inspiring limericks in you! :) Too too much only! :D And you have not had the pleasure to meet the bird, it seems? So sad. He would have inspired a whole book of nasty limericks, not just one or two. And the thought of sending him over to Subhash Ghai is mucho brilliant. And I hear they don’t use bleach there? Thanks to shameless product placements and commerical endorsements, they will instead drown the bird in Coke and then get him married to some unsuspecting bride via shaadi.com ;)

[aNTi] Waiitttttt! There is only ONE Vijayashanti movie I know of that has an Afro-American and that is the Indo-US venture - Padamati Sandhya Raagam (1986). Was THAT guy Sivamani? The same percussionist Sivamani of the ARR camp? WOW! By the way, that movie had a couple of wonderful songs. I particularly like SPB’s variation of the traditional pibare raamarasam .. with the violin and piano mix. This movie is also my claim to celebrity connections - being produced by a family friend and all, ahem ahem ;)

I don’t like the idea of my effigy burning in front of theatres, so I shall quietly consent to contrasting pagdi :) After all YOU are the art director for that scene, so I cannot interfere with your artistic sensibilities :)

[HWSNBF] Please to refresh my memory about the DTPH scene? You see, I have obliterated most of the movie from my mind, by choice. Are the ghantees ringing in realization that he is her one true love, or the ghantees ringing to remind her of some childhood memory?

[Arjun] This post might have been a little confusing if you’ve never met the black bird. But take my word on it that you are better off this way. Happy illusions are so much better, especially when reality itself is nothing but a persistent illusion :) Which is exactly why I like keeping this a happy and cheerful place without the crapola that some people tried to add to the scene. And serious and disturbing? C’mon now! Its a Yash Chopra movie .. how serious can it be? :)

[loverBoy] Thankoo thankoo :) And like I have said to everyone else, if you haven’t met the bird, that is a good thing. He was a cretin and a nuisance, but now that we have bleached him, he is a cute fluffy white pigeon who delivers pyaar ki chittthis to bholi-bhaali Bhagyashree-type heroines.

[wanderer] Thank you! Am glad you liked. And it is nice to see a new reader leave their footprints on this blog :)

[rumpelstiltskin™] A book? Have I harmed you in some way? Why do you want the publishers in the world gunning for my life? :)

And yes, that is an excellent point you make that I missed out! The tulip filled valleys and the Swiss Alps are always present in your living room and displayed in 70mm Eastmancolor at the flick of a button. I seem to have missed out on so many points in this post - cute sardarji kid, most memorable phrase (MMP), lowering of necklines, Switzerland valleys in your living room .. enough fodder for a part two post almost! And Arunachal Pradesh eh? Very very neat ;)

[Hokey-Pokey] I have always been a staunch Ash hater and am hugely fond of Sush so will take the Sush-in-red-saree option any day. Although I think, that while Sush might attract fewer black birds she will definitely pull in more wolves :)

[Kumari] Thankoo thankoo! :) Knowing the bird in question makes the drowning of him in bleach a more satisfying experience no? And the violence seems more justified too :D Glad you liked!

[Nandu] Ooooooh, toooo many points to counter-comment on ;)

    1. I like the music of both movies, so no complaints in that department. And both Silsila and Kabhi Kabhi are just fine performances wise. It is the story, and YC’s contribution that I have a problem with.

    2. That is exactly how I define YC - a very formulaic cookie-cutter moviemaker. Take a wafer thin over-repeated plot, add beautiful locales, designer clothes, pretty people, decent music (which has degenerated over the years, separate rant there), throw in some great marketing, especially targeting the NRI audiences - and ta-da! Mission accomplished. The movies completely lack soul. You never feel for the characters.

    3. I did I did I did! :) And I’m trying to save my comments for a separate post on the topic, but yes, it is arguably one of his best works as a director. And Big B! What can I say about him in Deewar that hasn’t already been said :) And the background music. I am a staunch Pancham fan, so I’m naturally biased, but total heaven it was! I better go write that post now :)

    4. Yayy, you are starting a blog! And you will write about my dear wonderful Boppi-da!? Double yayy! I have hankered to write a post about Bappi since sooo long but I’ve never actually done it. Maybe I can use the commentspace of your upcoming post instead ;) *evil laugh* Looking forward to it going online :)

[HWSNBF] Yesh, the me is most pleased :) And I don’t wanna get too optimistic yet, but there’s no sign of the poop returning, so far!

[IBH] Ah! Good point ;) I also need a nice tagline for my movie. Along the lines of ‘Come .. Fall in Love!’ or something equally corny!

actually, i could have picked up your posts and copied it on ms word and given it to some publisher under some pseudo name… that was my idea… but then i read your disclaimer statement… and i got scared (see how much i like this blog… i should be among the very few ones to read the disclaimer… and actually get scared)… and decided to give you the due credit (or debit if you like it that way)… so if you wont want publishers gunning after you… dont publish a book now… and the day you decide to become an author, do write a post… i guess thats the only way i am going to know…

oh about “arun”achal pradesh… i thought i might as well get some publicity out here along with the big black bird and YC and SRK and Aish and Sush and Sivamani and Lewis Carol and lots of other great people…

you still havent told anything about being a rapstar?

[Megha] Same guy.. Same Sivamani… Ya, SPB singing Pibare Ramarasam was classic SPB and my friends were surprised when I told them that he never had classical training… But for me, the highlight (aka the quirkiest detail) was the song featured on Sivamani that goes..
    Life is sorry….
    Without you baby…

All of us were ROTFLOAO! And oh, that “Taam” fellow is a mainstream Hollywood leading man and is married to Patricia Arquette! Search for the movie on imdb and go to his bio. He has a classic quote on his debut movie.. ;)
And I have a post coming up on that movie. Right now in draft mode..
Btw, are there any more scenes in the movie that you need my guidance on? I have an eye for colors, particularly in terms of headgear! I used to possess a pair of tennis style hats, one in fluroscent orange and the other in lemon yellow and when I walked from hostel to college, ppl knew who was coming! :D

Ah poor birdie, nobody loves them it seems. Though, I hope you are not suffering from a case of Stockholm Syndrome like few other people I know! :D And while I am not much of a follower of the Y Chopra genre of movies, I thought they were all about, ‘Mushy love and Gooey Hallmarky stuff’. I vaguely recall some movie with a rather forgettable title, which had the heroine buy Valentine Day soft toys for self! Pity that movie halls don’t come with a movie-sickness bag! :) Anyway, I forget what my point was…

Just scanned through the comments in hopes of finding the identity of the bird, but looks like its not going to be revealed. I’m either not reading your blog often, or it must have been before I discovered it .. either way, I don’t recall encountering that bird here.

[Gabby] Aw thankoo! I’m not usually a bird-hating person. Love seeing them flying in the sky - free spirit, freedom and all that. All poetic types. But this was a special case :) Much thankoos once again. Always happy to see you here! :) The beach party was at the Cape, btw?

[rumpelstiltskin™] Aha! So the threat of voodoo was not something you wanted to mess with! Most excellent :) Okie, I shall duly keep you posted on any books I might be intending to write in the near or distant future. Thankoo for that vote of confidence :)

And Arunachal Pradesh or not, you are welcome to shamelessly use this blog for self-promotion, we won’t mind. I can’t come up with too many state names with people in them, now that I think about it. Hmm, maybe ‘Raja’sthan and ”Mani’pur could be added to the list. ‘Hari’yana could be another, but that’s not an exact one. Okay, i’ll stop now :)

About the rap star bit - I have come close to being one having had the joy of being called Rapper Bhai, at one point in my life, by certain friends. The name has a painful story we shall not go into, but it was heavily inspired by Eminem and the javed bhai so re le, achhe khaase so re le song from Jaani Dushman - Ek Anokhi Kahaani (2002) and my habit of leaving musical voice messages for people to wake them up. Okay, that was more information that you’d ever want to know :)

[aNTi] Oh my good Lord! I do remember the ‘Life is sorry, without you baby!‘ very vividly. I have the audio cassette of this movie with me, so I’ve had the pleasure of listening to it more often than you think :) i had no idea that ‘Taam’ was an actual Hollywood actor and he’s even been a leading man more recently! I duly read up his quote on IMDB and all :) Now I gotta watch this movie again! Btw, please offer my sympathies to your college-mates. Had I know your love for colors, instead of trying to bleach the bird, I would have simply pointed him in your direction and blinded him instead! :)

[Stuti] Shhh, not so loud. If the bird finds out I’m secretly in love with him, he’ll never leave. In any case, he was only a psycho stalker and not a kidnapper, so the Stockholm Syndrome cannot really apply here. At least, not yet :) And yes, YC movies are straight out of a postcard/Hallmark card. That was very much the intended irony. By the way, it is nice to see that the closet finally got some sunshine :)

[Australopithecus] Ah okie. It is a classic, nevertheless! :)

[meditativerose] It is good to have you here now :) Never too late to join in the madness, I say! Or as Amol Palekar says in Rang Birangi - der aaye tandurust ;) Hope to see you around more often!

[blogman] No secret actually, you probably just got lucky :) And now hopefully, he’s been converted into a white pigeon or dove for good. and peace and calm has returned to our world once again!

[KJ] Thankoo thankoo! You are too sweet! :)

” I shall announce to the world that *you* are the bird and your profanity-ridden posts will make that claim most believable too.” Whaaaaaaat??? Nooooo….. oh wait.. what profanity-ridden posts? Didn’t you get the memo on Sriram getting abducted by aliens? hee hee… and as for me getting bleached, I prefer sitting on bleachers to getting bleached and so, if you can put me ON a bleacher for the opening game @ Clemson, THAT would be so much fun, no?

“You know I write once a week” Honestly, me still thinks you write because of the well-placed Voodoo threats ;).. and one last thing… can I play with the bird? I’d love to pluck little birdie’s feathers and drop him from a tall building, just to see if I can hear the splat when the fowl hits the ground ;)

[Sriram] Tsk tsk. What is this? Did I not tell you such horrible attempts of humor (the bleached vs sitting in the bleachers) are not allowed on this blog? Have you learnt nothing in all these days? And yes, the birdy is all yours to pluck and throw, although such violent tendencies in someone so young is most disconcerting. I must tell you though that the bird has been missing since a while now, so i’m beginning to believe my theory that he’s turned into a fluffy white pigeon.

[Nupur] See what you went and did Nupur? You gave [aNTi] ideas! :) Yesh, that seems to have become yet another Amitabh trademark - to do random prologue and epilogue voiceovers for completely forgettable movies. That’s why we thought we should ask him to do ours. After all Yash and Amitabh are old friends dating back to the Kabhi Kabhi days and all :) And I like the phrase ‘Bloggywood’. Shall use it more often :) And hero to teenon achhe hain - Rahul, Aryan ya Raj. Finally, when you think about it, its all one and the same guy (SRK, yikes!) so kya farak padta hai who I pick! :)

[aNTi] Arrey, I did no brushing wushing! First of all, why do I HAVE to pick, why can’t I have three heroes? For a more mythological reference think Draupadi, and for a more modern reference think Hindi film love quadrangles :) And what musical instrument pun? The sax and the violins were obvious puns, but what other pun did I crack that referred to a hero choice? Pray elaborate? Maybe it is my subconscious that is doing the choosing :)

By the way, I presume you are a different Sriram, one who does not blog? Thanks for stopping by and commenting :)

[Mint Chutney] The bird portraying you as the Bindu/Himani Shivpuri types, was totally uncool! I’m thinking something more along the lines of ‘fabulous but unattainable’. Gotta work out the casting details. But the burning question in my mind - who to cast as the bird? There’s lots of actors willing to play evil, but NOBODY wants to look depraved and pathetic.
