Geek dreams are made of theseI don’t dream much. No no, not in the philosophical I don’t have any dreams and aspirations sort of way. I have as many realistic plans of world domination as the next person, not to worry. But for someone who is a reasonably light sleeper (too much information that nobody wants to know) I don’t dream much. And on the occasions I do, I never remember them when I wake up. Which, if you ask me, (let’s pretend you did) is most annoying. I remember that I dreamt, but I don’t remember what happened in it. It is much like remembering the name of a lousy movie you’ve seen — you know it was bad and you never want to see it again. But but but .. you cannot remember the story! So you don’t remember WHY it was bad. Most infuriating it is. Leads to conversations like this in the desi store —
Friend: Should I watch Gunaah?
Me: Oh, good grief, don’t watch THAT!
Friend: Why? Who’s in it?
Me: Um, er .. I dunno. Sridevi maybe? Or was that Gumrah? Not sure.
Friend: *eyebrow raised* What’s it about?
Me: Um, er .. I dunno .. *trying to distract friend with mega-pack of Maggi*
Friend: You don’t like the movie, but you don’t know what it’s about?
Me: Um .. but I know that is a bad movie.
Friend: *second eyebrow raised to match the first*
Me: No seriously!
Friend: Yeah. Sure. *snigger*
Yep, the brilliance you exude at a moment like that can put Edison to shame. Does this ever happen to you? Please say it does? By the way, Gunaah is a Sunny/Dimple starrer while Gumrah is a Yash Johar flick starring Sridevi/Sunjay Dutt. Both humbug movies — one is a crime against movie-making, while the other is a lost cause. Both 1993. Both directed by that pompous windbag Mahesh Bhatt. So my confusion is valid, no? Yes, this is the same Bhatt who once had an evil twin that made decent movies like Arth (1982) and Saraansh (1984) so he sold him to the devil. And if you’ve watched his recent Paap (2003) or Zeher (2005), it looks like Udita Goswami’s clothes also went along with it. Such a nice guy, this chap.
On that note, here’s a bit of interesting trivia. Gunaah has an Amit Kumar-Anuradha Paudwal number — ye raat ye tanhaaiyaan, liptii huii parchhaaiyaan with music by Rajesh Roshan, whose tune was inspired from the theme music of the Charlie Chaplin film — Limelight (1952). Now Limelight’s music itself has a bit of unique trivia associated with it. Despite being a 1952 film, Charlie Chaplin along with Raymond Rasch and Larry Russell (source:IMDB) won the Oscar for Best Original Score for this film in 1972. Funda being that, since the movie had never screened in LA since its release in 1952, it still met the Academy’s eligibility rules for an Oscar. This is incidentally the only competitive Oscar that Chaplin ever won, the rest being honorary/lifetime achievement type awards. Neat eh?
The seeking of inspiration from the Limelight theme itself has two predecessors — Salil Chowdhury in Maaya (1961) in a Rafi number — zindagii hai kyaa sun merii jaan, and R D Burman in the rollicking fun film Bombay to Goa (1972), with the sweet Kishore-Lata number — tum merii zindagii mein kuchh is tarah se aaye. But make no mistakes, these aren’t ‘inspirations’ in the what-Anu-Malik-does-for-a-living sense of the word. In both cases, while the inspiration is certainly there, the distinct trademarks of Salil Chowdhury and Pancham are very apparent, making them excellent songs in their own right.
Okay, all movie references for this post are done, so we can all breathe freely and move on to the crux of the matter. I really like the word crux. It has such a nice crunch to it, like biting into a freshly fried appadam, don’t you think? But I am digressing.
So I had a rather weird dream a few nights ago which led to my singing thorny felt last week. And unlike my usual dreams, this one I nicely remember. In full 70mm Eastmancolor even. Pah. Yep, this was one of those, where you wake up and think to yourself — Maybe mom was right. Maybe inhaling too much petrol as a kid IS a bad thing. Sigh. So here are highlights of my geeky web developer version of hell —
- It had a <dream> and </dream> tag surrounding it.
(But no namespace definition for it. Yikes!)
- It had one of my blog commenters in it.
(I am not telling which one, so don’t even ask.)
- I was a variable trapped within an infinite loop in my own code.
(Even my dream-code has bugs.)
- I was hitting the Reload button to check for updates on my life.
(Yeah, very profound. Bleh.)
- It ended in my hitting the ‘Save Draft’ button before waking up.
(So it is not yet over. There is more to come, or so it seems to suggest. Much joy.)
Gaaaaah! Sympathies and offers of Kleenex will be appreciated. Interpretations too.

Weird thing that you bring up those two movies coz incidentally Gumraah has a very illustrious namesake predecessor while Gunaah has an even crassier namesake successor. Reading thru ur dream I realize that whatever happens, happens for the good (till the time u happened to recollect one of those dreams i.e. :) )

I dont know why but I remember ‘gunaah’ as a passable sort of movie.. and yeah, I also dont remember one thing abt the movie other than it was not a routine ‘u killed my father, prepare to die’, movie..
and of course the song..
Thursday, September 22, 2005 @ 12:01 AM
The song Yeh Raat Yeh Tanhaiyya from the original sound track had some weird sounds (for the lack of a more civilized word I use “weird”) that pass for the prelude which makes it a song most unsuited to play in mixed company..(I used to own the soundtrack CD which also had “Pehchaan”—Dheere dheere nazar laagne de…Madhoo wala)
I actually love the other song in Gunaah…Ek Musafir Hoon Main…wonder whom that is copied from?
Thursday, September 22, 2005 @ 1:03 AM
[megha]: Gunaah(2002) also is the name of another movie penned by mahesh bhatt and directed by some charlie… finally there are two gunaahs and one gumrah… oh my god… i can make a movie out of it and call it “Ek Gumrah Do Gunaah”… and it will be in the league of “Do Aankhen Baarah Haath” (atleast as far as the title goes)…
and you dream in xml and html… rocking man… at this speed… one day you will start dreaming in Java and all you have to do when you wake up is compile your dream, take a printout and post it on the blog… super fandastic…
and just like the comparsion between crux and the fresh appadams… the next time i bite into one… i am sure, the first thing that would come to my mind is “crux” :)

Ahaaa! Finally there is a point in this blog..totally against what you claim. Everytime I read your posts I wonder whether
1) You are saying something OR
2) You are asking us something OR
3) You are asking us to read but not write comments OR
4) You ask not to take the blog seriously but seriously write comments.
ufff!!….total hair pulling happenning. Fortunately not this time.
>>Maybe mom was right. Maybe inhaling too much petrol as a kid IS a bad thing.
Mom was absolutely right. You should consider yourself lucky as usually it does permanent brain damage which is not applicable in your case.
But jokes apart, very hilarious blog. Just like watching Gumraah. You need to put up with dope-factory faced Sanjay Dutt in the process of being mesmerized by Sridevi.
Thursday, September 22, 2005 @ 1:51 AM
Hey Megha,
Mahesh Bhatt is so a windbag who now insists on ghost-directing such cinematic gems as Murder and Zeher…
I have answered yr query abt what makes THAT MAN different from VALUE ADDED MAN. Do drop in with yr comments :)

Interpretation: you had cocaine before going to sleep.
Thursday, September 22, 2005 @ 2:35 AM
as a completely different matter, petrol DOES have a nice smell doesn’t it?
Thursday, September 22, 2005 @ 2:59 AM
Oh well, Gumraah took me back a few more decades. 1963 to be precise (Thank god for Google..:)) and brought back Mahendra Kapoor crooning “Chalo ek baar phir se ajnabi ban jaye hum dono” for Sunil Dutt who, in turn, pretends to play the piano in front of his ex-flame Mala Sinha, with her cigar-smoking husband Ashok Kumar looking on with my-charitraheen-wife type looks..:)
Now thats a priceless movie!

Let me guess, wasn’t there a Gunaah starring Bipasha and Dino?
Any take on that?
Madam your Bollywood knowledge seems infinite!!!:-)

Take heart, for one day “The geek shall inherit the earth.”
Now for the dream interpretation: You want socks for your birthday! (Did you say the interpretation had to make sense?) On the other hand, you might want to take a break from the computer if you’re worrying about buggy code in your sleep.
Also, I’ve been told that one way to avoid strange dreams is to sleep next to the edge of the bed with one foot on the ground. My mum suggested I try this after a recurring dream about losing my teeth.
Thursday, September 22, 2005 @ 5:05 AM
The only good thing about the movies Gumrah (Sridevi version)and Gunaah (Both of them)is I dont remember a thing about them. You were lucky to have smelt Petrol as a child, kids today cant afford to. As for the interpretation of your dream, it means that you are destined to be writing blog after blog with no end in sight.
Thursday, September 22, 2005 @ 5:57 AM
So much to comment. Lets keep it simple. I saw Gumarah(1993) about three times lol.. kind of silly in some places but its a funny tea-time flick. You talk about Paap(2003) ?? This desi store “uncule”(uncle or uncool..whatever) once asked me(when the movie Paap was just released)
Store Uncule - Koi movie rent karna hai ? yeh sab naye movies hai
Me- Per uncle sab cassestes main Paap hi likha hai ! aur vaise mere paas vcr nahi hai.
Store Uncule - *looks at the cassettes* Arre haan.. kya zamana aagaya hai paise deke paap leke jao hahahaha..!! * laughs hysterically at his own joke*
Me- *couldnt help but laugh at his pj*
PS-Petrol has a great smell !! My sister and me both love it.

Megs…u are a walking talking storage of megs of bollywood trivia.
first of all .. thanks for stopping by my blog. moi much happy. couldn’t control my khushi ke aansoon.. especially since u opened the khatha.
One thing I must give to Mahesh Bhatt for his new genre of tapofied films.. the music is good… Paap, Murder, Jism for instance.Even the movie with Irfan and the south african model.. i forget the name…
Talking of the Burmans.. they are just great. Like father like son. I got Bandini from the local public library. Yes.. the local public libraries in NJ have hindi movies.. thats desi penetration for u in NJ. The ‘O Maajhi Re ‘ number is mesmerising.
Interpretation of ur dream.. na I won’t do that .. kya pata mujhe uski testing karni pade… me having nightmares b’cos of testing.. chalo enuf.. back to testing.

Dreams, Gunaah and Gumraah, all rolled into one = fantastic thursday lunch time reading :)
Btw, Gunaah(1993) is also similar to Urmila’s Ek Hasina Thi. Interesting plot but ekdam bad execution in both the movies.
btw, on the Mahesh Bhatt front, me thinks his only good movie after his Arth and Saaransh days was Zakhm
btw, on the dream front, one geek to another, repeated use of the F5 leads to destruction of the key-board. Can I offer an automated reload script ?? in return, promise us more movie trivia :D

Hope you don’t take this the wrong way, but here’s some constructive criticism about your writing. I found the style to be verbose; I don’t know if that is the essence of your articles, but your written English closely follows a conversation/spoken English pattern. Digression in speech is tolerable probably because it is faster than having to read verbiage. And, of course, one can interrupt the speaker to get to the point which can’t be done with a weblog. With so many weblogs to read, you should try to reflect on the topic sooner to get the readers’ attention and then probably digress to other things that are on your mind. There are many writers who offer sidenotes with “floating thoughts” on their blogs — you could use something like that if you like. I assume that your audience is vastly Indian which would explain the continuous references to the Hindi language. But overall, your weblog is well documented, the design reflects its title, and you have a modest amount of readership — so, kudos to you.
A regular who doesn’t usually comment.

HOly snake skins… ten thousand thundering typhoons (Or should I be aying one thundering hurricane?)..“Maybe inhaling too much petrol as a kid IS a bad thing.” -OH my God!!! SO does this mean my brain shall fry away like burgers soaked in petrol and placed on a hot stove?
As for interpretations , try one of my dreams and see if you can figure out anything… I get up early in the morning (wrong variable initialised - you see, I NEVER get up early) and head of the door to get a glimpse of sunlight.. then I suddenly find myself in bed, dreaming about waking up early and watching the sunshine. So i decide to get up and really watch the sunshine. When the first ray hits my eyes, I wake up with a shudder to find myself in bed. so I get up again, this time to really get a glimpse of the sun and step out of the door. Yet again as the first ray of light hits, I find myself back in bed… and this goes on and on..
What say? Oh yes, me is a bad coder… :D

[Megha] This reminds me of the time in grad school when my RA work was so easy that i was spending half the time on chat. But i soon stopped when, three nights in a row, I found that I had been dreaming of chatting, complete with smileys :p
Bollywood trivia huh ? :)
And then a few weeks ago, there was the time when someone sent me a morbid European short video clip involving a teen, a puppy and a bus stop!
Anon: Hmmm… there is a niche for every one in the blogosphere and I think madam here occupies a very unique one. And since when did the conversational style of writing go out of fashion? :) I totally enjoy this particular PERSONAL blog and a few other similar ones. To each his (or her) own!
Thursday, September 22, 2005 @ 4:37 PM
here is some sympathy and here is some kleenex!
you’re very funny! and i don;t even understand most of those lyrics u quote! yet i return and return (not in a creepy stalker way ok)
Thursday, September 22, 2005 @ 5:51 PM
ok! i think i am one of the very few people who has seen both these movies and NO - Gumraah is quite watchable and in case people have forgotten had the fairly successful number “Main tera ashiq hoon” with Sanjay Dutt dancing in a hat. The movie is a copy of the film Bangkok Hilton. Gunaah is far less memorable and doesn’t deserve details.
Good, now that I have showed off my knowledge of 90s cinema - I shall scoot :)
Thursday, September 22, 2005 @ 7:18 PM
@anon
> I found the style to be verbose;
I see you are a very impatient reader trying to find a point ,which in her own words has repeatedly expressed doesnot exist. Frankly the wonderful part of her writing is not the point itself but the way she gets to it (if there is one:))
*sigh* I don’t understand why one is not allowed to write the way they like to.
Thursday, September 22, 2005 @ 11:41 PM
Caution: Mega-gigantic big-assed (Asha Parekh style) comment response follows.
[Rohan] Are you trying to mock me here? *suspicious look* How can a dream like that be a good thing? Hmpfh! Anyhoo, yes, Gumraah (1963) is a good film, with some excellent music to boot. I have some gushing to do about Sahir’s poetry, but I will save that in my response to [RT] below :)
[wanderer] Hello and welcome to the blog :) Now that we got the customary greetings out of the way - I honestly don’t remember Gunaah’s plot. I think i’ve seen it, but except for the fact that it has Sunny and Dimple, everything else about it eludes me. I am, of course, assuming that my memory is just trying to watch out for me :)
[GREATBONG] Oh I think I know what you’re referring to! aaj hum mein hum nahin hain, tum mein tum nahin .. <cue weird sound>. Don’t remember Pehchaan. And can’t remember ek musafir hoon main either. Have link?
[Rumpy] Please to notice that the name switch has been made. As for Gunaah, I remember it being a cop-firefighter love drama type thing starring Dino Morea, who is always reason enough to not watch a film. Is that ALSO by Mahesh Bhatt? Tsk tsk. By the way, we are talking about the deep fried kind of appadams here, just to clarify. None of the roasted papad business :)
[gvenum] Let me clear your confusion once and for all. I have loads to say, I always want you to read, I never want you to take me seriously, unless I specifically tell you so and I want you to write oodles and oodles of comments :) And what makes you think the damage is not permanent? One would have thought this blog made that pretty clear! And you say this post is a combination of Sunjay Dutt and Sridevi? Pray tell exactly what part of this post was dope-face like? *raised eyebrow*
[Vijayeta] Yes, he’s quite something, isn’t he? Will stop by and acquaint myself with THAT MAN. He seems promising ;)
[Anurag] Ah, I love simple interpretations :)
[HWSNBF] Oooh yes :)
[RT] “with my-charitraheen-wife type looks” - LOL :) That is indeed a pretty nice movie, with some wonderful music by Ravi. The song you mentioned - chalo ik baar phir se ajnabi ban jaayen is one of my eternal favorites by Sahir Ludhianvi and a lot of people’s break-up favorite :) Wonderful lyrics, and sung by B R Chopra camp favorite Mahendra Kapoor. The movie also has that nice MKaps-Asha duet in hawaaon mein in fizaaon mein, tujhko mera pyaar pukaare and the other MKaps hyphenated solo - aap aaye to khayaal-e-dil-e-nashaad aaya. Sunil Dutt looked rather dashing in it, from what I remember, although Mala Sinha was as usual being, well, Mala Sinha.
[Minal] Thankoo for link! And guess what? I haven’t seen it! I haven’t seen it! *does a happy jig for having NOT seen a bad movie for a change* :)
[a-hem] Thankoo. *sniffle* You are kind. I guess I can live with the sock love interpretation. Will try your trick if blog commenters start showing up in my dreams again :)
[Nicks] Blogging till eternity? That does not have a good ring to it :)
[pingoo] Looks like store unkull is spending too much time with PJ Pingoo :) Nice to find another petrol lover!
[Randomizer] Thankoo :) Pointless Bollywood trivia, I might add. Happy to have started the comment counter over at your space. May you be blessed with tons of them! :) Yes, Mahesh Bhatt movies have reasonably decent music, but just like his plots, a majority of the tunes are copied too. Doesn’t make them less listenable, but one tends to value them a little lesser, I guess. Jism is one that stands out as an exception though. Btw, Bandini is one of my all time favorite films! Isn’t Nutan simply brilliant in it? And being a fanatic Burman fan, any nice things you have to say about them will be met with a animated nod of my head :)
[Hokie] I gotta watch Ek Hasina Thi one of these days. Good you reminded me. And the reload script will be nice, thank you very much :)
[Anonymous] Thank you for your feedback, no offense taken whatsoever. It is always good to know what one’s readers think of one’s writing. However, the conversational tone of my blog, along with the tangents, is deliberate. If I take a while to get to a point, it is cos I try to entertain along the way. Well, at least I hope to. I don’t think I would be right in assuming that my readers have a short attention span, cos a number of blog readers (including me) like to sit back, relax and indulge in those very digressions. Bottomline - to quote an oft-used geek phrase - the way I write is a feature, not a bug. This blog is titled ‘A walk in the clouds’, not a sprint :)
You are right that a lot of my cultural references are Indian, and while I do sometimes offer translations for the non-Indian audience, I realize the humor or point may be lost.
It is nice to know you are a regular reader. A thought from my side - I wish you didn’t offer your feedback anonymously. I find it is always nicer to associate a person with an opinion.
[Sriram] Suddenly, being a variable stuck in my own code seems like a wonderful thing :)
[aNTi] I’ve had that dream too, once upon a time. The one with emoticon smileys instead of real ones. And I had the same interpretation as you did - too much chatting :) Ah, those were the happy days with too much time to spare!
[Shoe Fiend] Aww thank you, you are very kind. *gratefully takes all the Kleenex she can get* I hope you keep returning :)
[Sagnik] You say Gumrah is watchable only cos you are such a staunch Sridevi fan :) And thankoo for original source. I knew it existed, but I couldn’t place it.
Thursday, September 22, 2005 @ 11:53 PM
[Megha] LOL! You had me rolling with laughter yet again! And [Randomizer]’s comment made me realize that your name is Megha coz you’ve got millions of jokes (Megs of Ha?) :D
And I loved the pun you made on Gumraah and Gunaah - one is a crime against movie-making, while the other is a lost cause. I mean LOL! Where do you get these ideas???
And your dream! Too cool only! I wonder if there’s an XSD I can download to try to create compatible dreams against. *sigh* Yes, it’s late. I should go and sleep now.
[Anonymous] I tried thinking about how this post might have been had our favourite blogger decided to take your advice. Here’s an attempt -
I don’t dream much. And even when I do, I tend not to remember them. But I had a weird one recently and I remember it. However, I don’t want to waste your time trying to explain it so I won’t.
Or something like that.
Net Losses -
1. 46,870 jokes, puns, and funny lines. How Megha manages to fit them in a post having only 4,687 ASCII characters is something that has scientists puzzled. But that’s digression, and we shouldn’t be doing that.
2. 49.2 movie reviews and pieces of movie trivia. (I didn’t actually count, so this is only an approximate number).
3. The funniest dream description I’ve ever had my pleasure to read. But I think that’s redundant because I already covered humour (1).
Actually, thinking about it, I guess since the 4 sentences I squeezed it down to are pretty pointless, Megha might have skipped writing the post itself. Which makes me realise that about:blank is probably the most popular blog of them all.
:) No offence meant. But I’m really glad Megha hasn’t taken your advice!

That makes my day.Oops. Night :)
Really Good One! This means that you are in ‘IT’ ;-)
Keep ‘em coming..

I used to love inhaling the smell of petrol growing up!! So that answers a lot of questions.
Funny blog Megha.
Friday, September 23, 2005 @ 5:43 AM
[megha]: sadly Gunaah with dino morea was also from THE bhatt… and i too hate flat roasted pappadams… they dont give the “badi ass” feeling that are given by the fried pappadams that bloat up after frying… see what you making me do… link up all your posts and write comments on them… but then its fun that way
Friday, September 23, 2005 @ 6:03 AM
[gvenum] Thank you!
[Rajesh] “! I wonder if there’s an XSD I can download to try to create compatible dreams against.” - LOL! Yep, you really ought to be sleeping if you are coming up with ideas like that :) And Megs of Ha! I have heard a lot of variations and mutilations of my name, but THIS is new :) And thankoo for noticing the pun on the movie-name meanings. I wasn’t sure if anybody caught that, but I am most pleased that my criminal pun wasn’t completely lost on the audience ;)
And thank you much for the vote of confidence. My head is resembling a hot-air balloon right now :)
[Paddy] Gee, how did you guess, Paddy? ;) Glad you like!
[Archster] Ah yes. I find that the combination of ‘dropped on the head as a kid’ and ‘inhaled too many petrol fumes’ can nicely explain a LOT of oddities in a person. Well most of them, anyway :) Glad you liked!
[Rumpy] People have claimed that I am responsible for them doing a lot of strange things, but connecting fried pappadums to Asha Parekh is definitely a new one. So me is happy :) And do NOT ask what the other strange things are. This is a public space after all, and some of the people in question read this blog ;)
Friday, September 23, 2005 @ 7:56 AM
Wow i am belittled to see such fine blogs.. I never know whether I will i ever be able to rise up to this level.. great blogging..
Cheers,
Nanyaar?

Hello and greetings!
Can we do a Non Hindi movie post please? After all too much of a good thing can be as bad as being Bridget Jonesy!
Friday, September 23, 2005 @ 11:12 AM
>> Pray tell exactly what part of this post was dope-face like? *raised eyebrow*
My apologies for the confusion. The dope-face reference totally has to do with my hatred for SD than any reference to your post. Just got carried away by emoshion:).
>>And you say this post is a combination of Sunjay Dutt and Sridevi?
Its like watching Gumraah, where all the funny references in the post make for all the entertainment you get from watching Sridevi while the trivia in the post is like watching S.Dutt where you are anxious to get over for the next goodies.:)
*makes a mental note to ask Mom if I ever was dropped as a kid..seems like I was from my comments!!*
Friday, September 23, 2005 @ 11:12 AM
*yawn* Today is just one of those mornings, I guess ..
[Nanyaar?] Thank you for the generous praise! But c’mon now, calling my nonsense a ‘fine blog’ is rather unfair to the genuinely fine writing that is out on the web :) Thanks for stopping by!
[Stuti] Hola! Ah, so *you* think Bridget Jonesy blogging is bad. Finally the truth comes out :) Tsk tsk. As for Hindi movies, okie, one shall try, but one is not making any promises. Btw, the next post may satisfy your discerning non-bad-Hindi movie tastes.
[gvenum] Ah, so the trivia = dope-face. Got it. Thankoo. Yeah I’d check with mom if I were you.
Friday, September 23, 2005 @ 11:44 AM
Na I don’t like Bridget Jonesy Blogging, but But I like that a lot better than Hindi film stuff which I don’t understand.
After all the former is about real people and the latter is mere escapism and trivia. So, no contest that! And na that is not to be taken as being pejorative.
Though, I like to decide who is Bridget Jones.
Friday, September 23, 2005 @ 12:00 PM
[Stuti] Good for you. To each their own .. and all that humbug. Although a couple of papers could be written about how much reality there is in Bridget Jones-y blogging, I’m too sleepy to go there now .. zzz.
Friday, September 23, 2005 @ 12:57 PM
[rajesh] Rotfl reading about those “net losses” and Meg(s of) Ha…
Totally true true..
[Megha] Wow, so I was not alone with those dreams. My interpretation of my own malady was correct!
Friday, September 23, 2005 @ 1:21 PM
>>Ah, so the trivia = dope-face. Got it.
Huh?..who?…what?…where?? …*gets some control*…….HOWWW?
Friday, September 23, 2005 @ 4:17 PM
[aNTi] Oh yes, I think a lot of us have gone through a phase of chat-addiction at some point in life :)
[gvenum] Huh? Wait I will explain. You said, and I paraphrase, the following two points -
1. Dope face = Sunjay Dutt.
2. Trivia in the post = Sunjay Dutt.
Ergo, since A = B and also C = B, A = C. QED.
Friday, September 23, 2005 @ 4:26 PM
>>1. Dope face = Sunjay Dutt.
>>2. Trivia in the post = Sunjay Dutt.
>>Ergo, since A = B and also C = B, A = C. QED.
God!!..*how did I get into this*.hmm!!.I see your point. But to my defense in order for the transitiviy to be true A,B,C should belong to a same system. Now dope face and trivia belong to a different system while SD is a non entity(quite literally..I belive he is an ass, its not established what kind though but that’s a different matter) and he is just a number or a filler, if you will.:)
My intepretation is that dope face is a measure of how pathetic SD looks.(e.g. SD is 3068 dope face units. Asha parekh is 20,324 dp units etc.. etc…Tushaar =……).
To rephrase
1) SD = (n)Dope face
2) Trivia in the post is similar to Sunjay Dutt.
So what I am trying to say is
Trivia in the post is a like a filler. *frantically thinking if I made it worse*

[gvenum] Ah okie, it makes sense now :) I am reminded of my high school maths teacher (the same Rao sir who showed up in another post), and if you knew him, you would understand why reminding me of him is not usually a good thing. But oh well :)
While I am tempted to ask more innocent questions, I think I have put you on the spot enough so I’ll behave :) But one final question - so exactly how many dope face units is the trivia in my post valued at? ;)

Wow, I use a lot of that too - Good for you! Translated = Buzz off! :)
Anyway the day the world’s loveliest and politest Blogger says something like that you disappear back into your little hole.
Apologies and all those things that the civil people say.

[Stuti] Abbabbabbabbaaaaaa! That’s the only word I have for a situation like this. Please to not read so much extra meaning into what I say. And then apologize and all. That’s much too much. Here’s the Megha-to-English for you and anyone else who wants to read it -
* ‘Good for you‘ - It’s good for you that you have your opinion. Its good for me that I have mine. We can both agree to disagree and coexist peacefully.
* ‘Buzz off‘ = buzz off.
* ‘Zzz‘ = I am genuinely very sleepy.
Since I made only statements 1 and 3, what I meant should be clear. And while rabbit holes are great (I often hop away into one myself) by all means don’t stay in there for too long. I am hop(p)ing to see you around here soon :)

wokkay akka *cue, evil, malicious laughter*, kaambleedly unrelated to this post, but tag has been fulfilled, laaaaang time after it was made. And “it is the only way to get you to comment on blog”- look who’s talking. hmphh. I thought I’d get a historian to do high-figh research-shesearch and find out when was the last you commented, but he refused- said it’s the paleontologist’s job. :D

So twice punished and yet not finished (for the crime that ‘you’ had a dream and you remember every color of it :D )
!!
:)

i want to be the commenter who appears in your dreams :P
Sunday, September 25, 2005 @ 10:45 PM
ahaa!! Rao sir strikes again and I realize from your responses its sure not a good thing.
>>so exactly how many dope face units is the trivia in my post valued at? ;)
Fortunately trivia in the post doesnot qualify to be measured in those units even though they might be similar thanks to the now wonderful new science called “gvenumology”.
You have to realize that unlike the trivia, SD is not just a filler but represent unique qualites that throw you into convulsions. Did you say that’s your final question…yes! you did…you did!! *exhalting uninhibited happiness*

hey, haven’t written here in awhile, in fact, not sure if you remember me or not — which would probably make it more exciting b/c you’d try to kindle your brain and may also drop by my newfound haven (aka typepad) and write a short snippet of a comment (someone should teach me the art of subtlety!) — but, just wanted to change that and say that your weblog has often entertained me a lot. A lot of laughs, and always providing a point to ponder :-). Alright, enough of the accolades … keep writing and there’d always be folks like me who show up all of a sudden and may surprise you! Take care, Jay.
ps: My apologies if you expected to read a comment that was directly related to your post … if I can use your words, that is, “a work in progress” and will follow in a bit.

I demand the doodle board be brought back. Me needs a place to shout randomly. Me is unfortunately being treated like Sholay’s Gabbar Singh i.e everyone runs AWAY from any shoutbox I shout on. Now be fair and tell me, Am I Gabbar Singh? (Oh God, never did I dream I would utter these words) If ever there was a movie star that one could associate with me, it should the the superstar and no one else. (Oh yes, Me just got back from meeting wiht me prof and hence the deluded comment. The hangover continues… more senseless rambling to follow, beware!)

[kaashyapeya] I shall deftly sidestep that akka and pretend you are NOT talking to me. Hmpfh. Okie, fine fine, I admit I am a lil .. um .. infrequent in my commenting. But that is because of the lil problem I mentioned having with your blog. Remember two dictionaries and a bottle of scotch? Welcome to replace with drink of choice :)
[Invincible] And you left out the biggest crime of them all - I shared it with the unsuspecting readers of my blog :)
[sanky] Yeah yeah. Hello dream. Have you met pipe lately? :)
[gvenum] Damn, I did say ‘final question’ didn’t I? Okie, that’s it from my side. You are out of trouble for now :) *says that with as straight a face as is humanly possible*
[Jay] Hiya! What a pleasant surprise! Sure I remember ya! :) After the first couple of seconds of confusion that is. Changing IDs can be tricky, you know :) Glad you enjoy reading the blog and comment. Will be sure to stop by at your blog and do some commenting of my own. And don’t worry about the comment not being related to the blog. In this madhouse, minor technicalities like that don’t matter. See you around! :)
[Sriram] Noooo! The doodleboard has lived its life and is not getting a second chance. As for you random shouting, I thought you’ve been using my commentspace to do that since a while now! ;) And you think you be Rajni? What did this professor feed you boy? Me is a little worried for you!

[kaashyapeya] akkka! ROTFL!
[Megha] So ‘akka’ is out of bounds. Me thinks the apt reference would have to be much more mature! How about one that rhymes with my nick? :D
[Sriram] Anneh vanakkam… en peru anantha.. aana ennaku innoru perum irruku ;)
[others] Pardon the private tam reference :D
Tuesday, September 27, 2005 @ 11:47 PM
[aNTi] Maturity? Do you actually read this blog or simply pretend to? :) And although I would gladly give you credit for suggesting the idea just so I can beat you up, I have been called the shudderworthy-word-that-rhymes-with-your-name before. (on someone’s blog when linking to mine.) So the initial trauma of the event has now been replaced with a placid numbness. So you will NOT get a reaction out of me so easily! Although I do feel an angst-filled post building up inside me! :)
Wednesday, September 28, 2005 @ 12:10 AM
[Megha] You mean someone referred to you as “Megha Aunty” on their blog :O
There you go, now I referred to you as Megha Aunty on YOUR blog and that too in bold… ROTFL!
*sits down and waits for the angst-filled post with glee ;)

\megha I didn’t change IDs – just posted a comment with my name rather than using chilledsteam; well, I did move to typepad without much rhyme or reason, but I felt that I liked typepad’s interface better than blogger. But again, it could have been a whim.
Anyhow, I agree with Sriram that the shoutbox (small-sized though ~ e.g., display 2 convos) be brought back. That way, we can shout as much as we want (yippee!). But it may mean that you don’t have a gazillion comments for every post … I don’t know if that matters …
Well, thought I’d take the time to explain various forms of my name (not self-inflicted) – Jay (grad school and present, most favored) aka Jai (through college) aka Juggie (through school) aka Mogi (as a child due to my inability to say Mowgli – I loved Jungle Book … Rudyard Kipling is GOD!)
And now, for what I called myself (read fickle mind trying to represent body with a nick name) – chilledsteam (current, most favored by self) aka metelfan (college\lack of availability of metal) aka hell_bent (high school) aka orbitoid (adolescence)
So why do you need to know all this – hmm, that’s a loaded question – hahaha, I have no idea. But think I was trying to explain the evolution and traceability of everything that I’ve either been called/known as. Anyway, yet another comment unrelated to your post – I’m beginning to get good at this eh?
PS: You can view my bookmarks list @ http://del.icio.us/chilledsteam [some of you may find yourselves there :-)].
\advertisement (please feel free to delete section if unsolicited)
And for those who visit every now and then and never comment (hint, hint … no, no … I kid!), I moved from here to here to here to here. Or, you could just click here.
