Seeing as we anyway stand accused of finding old posts to comment on, we might as well come here and pay homage to our most favourite post of all, no?

Greetings to you, O confused one. You are in search of answers, it seems. I have them for you, but only if you ask nicely.

...yes and some are like people who come into your life, and throw you into raptures about how terribly smitten you are... until you get tired of the monotony and repetition (like the recent Himesh Reshammiya songs that pretend to be totally sensual and grow on you)...and move on to the next best thing...maybe a 'paathshaala'? Did I betray my superficiality? ;-)

Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard
 Are sweeter; therefore, ye soft pipes, play on;
Not to the sensual ear, but, more endear'd,
Pipe to the spirit ditties of no tone:

What you have described is the heard melodies leading to those inside, unheard...

[Rumpy] Thank you. Glad you liked. I guess, different things move each of us differently. What I feel about music, you might feel about something else. This was just an attempt to describe the feeling itself. A feeling about a song, a place, a person .. or perhaps a moment that brings them all together.

[RT] No one melody, to be honest. Was really a combination of a mood, a thought, a feeling .. everything :)

[Nandu] Very well said. It is a feeling to be experienced by the soul, not spoken in words. And yet we try.

[prerona] Um? This post isn't a response to a tag, if that's what you're asking. Of course, now you've gone and tagged me, as I just noticed. Why O why! :)

[Dina] Thank you.. very glad you liked. And thrilled to have you stop by here.

[sri] You feel the same way about upma, hm? I am not one to judge, so if upma is what rings your bell, then so be it :) Oh and having stopped by your blog and read some of your posts, I think you should seriously consider renaming your blog to The Chronicles of Upma or something. When it plays such an important part in your life, it deserves a place of honor, don't you think?

And contrary to impressions, this post is completely unconnected to Valentine's Day. But happy V-day to you too, nonetheless :)

[Bhanu] Thank you. and it wasn't any one song. More of an attempt to describe a constant feeling one has when there's music in your heart :)

[Hokie] So true that .. and we are left holding on to memories, much like water in the palm of our hand. Thank you. Glad you liked.

[iii] *smile* A bit of both. But more than anything else, the feeling itself as a continuous melody in your heart. But nah, nothing to do with V-day. For that we'll do something a little .. um .. unconventional, perhaps :)

[Sriram] Eeks! Ugh. Someone eagerly awaiting a Valentine's day gift? Double UGH. Tsk tsk.

And you are always welcome to abuse this commentspace. Even if you were not welcome, you'd still do it, so I might as well make my peace with it, yes? :) And I talk about serious stuff so that next time people groan at my nonsense, I can point them to my serious writing and say - That's the alternative. See, it is all just a ruse to stump my readers, nothing else :)

[tafosi] Thank you! Hard to say how often we'll write something like this, but given that we don't usually take ourselves very seriously, it is unlikely to be frequent. But glad you liked :)

[Shiva] Lovely song :)

[Smiley] Thank you.

[jethro] Sometimes happy ditties, sometimes melancholic tunes. But the melodies in your heart always remain.
