Eh? M?

Conversations with friends have led to the realization that we come across way too friendly on the blog. Not that it is an entirely bad thing, mind you. The whole ‘Wheee! Look at me! I’m such a sprightly bunny rabbit! Don’t you want to be my friend?’ image has led to many an offer of gaajar halwa to be sent our way. But one has decided that one wants to be more enigmatic ‘Ahem, don’t you want to get to know me more?’ types. So one went scouting around the blogosphere and quickly gleaned some useful tips from several popular female bloggers on how to increase one’s sex appeal. So, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you —

First — the dragon tattoo on my hip.

Dragon

(Yes my hip, not a tree trunk. And yes that is fire. No not fishies an underwater dragon is chasing after, but fire. Snort. And yes it is wearing white gloves. A dragon with a fashion sense, of course! And we’re rather proud of the Vulcan ears, yes.)

Second — a mysterious peek-a-boo glimpse. And no, I was not having a bad hair day, thank you very much.

Eye

There. All the imagery firmly in place. La-di-da!

Grateful acknowledgements to eM, IdeaSmith, Rimi and Neha. And to Heh Heh for showing us how a lot can be said with just a demented picture.

rotfl! Yeah Yeah! The hair and “the eye” struck a chord alright. I took down the “eye” pic after there were complaints of people being shocked into silence because of the terrible fear it caused!

hey, i have a convert, i have a convert. lovely artwork, could almost have come up with it myself.
and thanks for all the fishies.
ps: since we know something about that form of high art called minimalistic grayscale touchpad doodling, we wonder: what is the girl looking at? curiosity at the greyness that separates her from the world? *pushes up the pince nez, and peers intently, blowing air in and out of double chin*

I was wondering if the dragon was wearing a black (or looking at picture, grey) evening gown, and high-heels to go with those white gloves. But then I rememberedhow inappropriate it would be to stare. So, I am asking you intead.

And one more thing to add to your reportaire (forgive the spelling), a pout.

    Your enigmaticness,
Donald duck wouldnt take kindly to this cruel morph of his face over the body of an eel with added mysterious appendages sticking out from places. No siree. You shallmeet his lawyer very soon.
Just the other day he was telling me about the tragedy a minor caused by posting a morph of Mallika’s face onto his (not the minor’s, donald’s) bare body on the web.Sheesh. Internet…I tell you.

[Megha] Just this other day, I was on GTalk with someone that YOU introduced me to last year and we had several theories. And we finally concluded that you were a 250 lb pound hairy guy with facial hair who posessed an always-mistaken-for-a-lady voice.

And after what we “see” here on this blog (before this post), I am not sure whether anyone would answer in the affirmative to that Ahem, don’t you want to get to know me more? question. Our eyes always go wide when we imagine all these perceived characteristics in just one blogger (even with the 17 alter-egos) and we has to reach out for his security blanket to ease the resulting shivers.

Btw, about the always-mistaken-for-a-lady voice, not that anything is wrong with it, given that when one calls customer service numbers, one is always adressed as “maam”, even by the desi hey-look-at-ma-angrez-accent types at Amex who should recognize that the long 16 letter first name is really that of a south indian guy! Bahhhh…

Megha: What, no pictures of you as a baby? Also, is this it, or we going to get to see more of you (literally) - Midnight’s Children fashion (remember the sheet with the hole in it?)

heh heh: This is why engineers should not try to be art critics. It’s obvious to anyone that the girl is not looking at something - she’s looking away - her eyes raised to the sky in a gesture that is part teenage disdain for her own beauty, and part an expression of yearning for a deeper, more spiritual world. Did you learn nothing from Vermeer?

P.S. How do you guys do this anyway?

[neha] Hee hee. I simply couldn’t help it. And I agree, it was rather Trinetra types, from what I remember of it. No no, we don’t mean Mithun Chakraborty in a 1991 movie prancing around with Shilpa Shirodkar type of Trinetra, not to worry. Hope your vacation is going well :)

[Sagnik] No no no, you have it all wrong. The first picture should be the ‘hot’ one. C’mon! It may look like fishies, but it is fire, you know. The second picture is about being cool and mysterious. But, I guess it is soo enigmatic, that the fact that it is so, is itself an enigma. Sigh.

[Heh Heh] Well the way I see it - she’s looking at the piece of grey cardboard in front of her and rolling her eyes wondering how long she has to keep her nose pressed against it. But then again, I slept through Art Appreciation 101, so hey, what do I know.

[Prerona] Appear friendly while hurting feelings? Heh, now that should be interesting! :)

    [MvR] Thank you.

[Fleiger] So glad you asked. Yes indeedy it is! I even considered tossing in a string of pearls, but then it started to resemble Lisa from the Simpsons, so I had to put a stop to my creativity. And yes, I’ll remember the pout for next time. Aish is my guru in these matters, you know.

[shoefiend] Ooh, thenkoo thenkoo. Although, I have a feeling that the only way I’ll ever get to be an enigma is if I have a kid and name it ‘Enig’. Ah well. I’ll live, I suppose.

[selvin] Ah finally. Glad the pictures finally had the desired outcome. Thenkewverrymuj.

[Brat] I’ll have my lawyer talk to his lawyer and explain to Donald (Duck not Trump) that he is better off with his head on an evening-gown clad eel rather than on his own bottom which is usually devoid of underpants. Am sure he’ll see the logic in that. And I quite like your choice of title for us. Hopefully, by antonomasia, it will become synonymous with us. Heh.

    [Hariprasad] :)

[aNTi] Excuse me. Not 250. I am a lissome 242. I wasn’t on the Subway diet for all these months for nothing, you know. And er, what are all these perceived characteristics of mine that cannot be in one single person? Seriously, please to explain that one to me?

Oh and I think that fine gentleman I introduced you to, deserves to be fed to the lions for a) Sending me Anu Malik songs like ‘Do me a favor, lets play Holi’ b) feeding you these ludicrous theories about my being a gorilla c) Threatening to comment on this blog but never actually commenting. At least not recently. So there.

[Falstaff] Now now, Falsie. We are all well aware of your sentiments regarding babies and the appropriate positioning of their diapers, but the world in general still perceives them to be objects of cuteness. And in this case we were making a conscious effort to step away from that. But still, since you asked - here’s one. Pliss to notice how the hair never really changed.

    Baby M

Good question though! [Heh Heh], how DO you do this anyway?

[Sriram] Hey, there might be a lot of things you could accuse this dragon of being, but unoriginal it is not. So there! Go find yourself your own dragon. This one’s mine! *Gollum-style hiss*

[qs.gemini] Heh heh, that sounds like a fun plan. Me, my hair and my dragon shall be on the lookout for a Nancy Drew lookalike jogging along the Charles :)

    [shub] Thenkew thenkew! *blush* :)

[Anon] Aha! How very true! This dragon is turning out to have multiple personalities too, it seems. Much coolness :)

[IdeaSmith] Oh. Uh oh. I thought it was the hip. No matter. It is a dragon, and that’s what counts. Yes, a mathematically inclined dragon. And this whole understanding business is overrated anyway :)

[Rumpy] Well how would you know what is like to watch Paap alone? You always had the sponge cake for company! And c’mon now. Don’t be so harsh on yourself. They gave the whole no-makeup, au naturel spiel to Hemant Birje. Surely you aren’t confusing yourself with him?

[Sue] *blush* Meri khoobsoorat aur ghane baalon ka raaz? *tee hee hee*

Har par har din mehke baal
    Dabur Amla Kesh Tel
    Kaale ghane aur sundar baal
    Dabur Amla Kesh Tel

My apologies to your boss. Oh and thank you for catching the validation errors! Had forgotten to check in a while. The CSS error is one I have to live with since the plugin doesn’t work without it, but I’ve taken care of all the XHTML ones. Thanks much :)

    {end flashback}

and why on earth were you comparing me to him… dont you want me to survive… a chudail in ramsay’s movie is more credible than an ape in the jungle… hmpf… now i will go to some “purush mukti morcha” complaint about the “man haani” caused to me…

[Rumpy] Uff. See, you made the classic beginner’s mistake. I mention Hemant Birje and you seedha thought of Tarzan. What you did not think of were Veerana (1985) and Tehkhana (1986), both classic Ramsey Brothers movies starring Hemant Birje as the chudail (Um, okay, hero. Same thang.) Now you see why we were saying you were being unfair on yourself, because *you* were likening yourself to Hemant Birje by claiming to have played the chudail. We were just trying to make you see reason. Kya kya samjhaana padta hai.

Now THAT is an interesting tattoo! :) But if you really want the whole “get to know you better” banter thingie, the best thing to do is pop in odd sentences into your posts like, “It’s really hot as I write this, in my underwear, and the hot-pink strap of my thong is practically falling off thanks to the sweat”. [eM] Ooh, lesson duly learnt. Fool that I am, I had only mentioned Shefali Jariwala’s thong till now. Didn’t realize I had to get closer to home for the desired effect. And of course you wouldn’t know anything about these tactics in practice. Yours is entirely theoretical knowledge. Why would I ever even think otherwise?

[aNTi] Well, first of all - I don’t even threaten to comment. I simply don’t comment. So there. Heh heh. Secondly, how can you defend someone who sends nasty Anu Malik songs as a way of wishing Happy Holi? And nopes, did not know about this Bappi rap experiment. Who, where, when, why, how? Tell tell?

And your response to eM - *shakes head in exasperation* This is why there is no hope for you! It doesn’t matter where it is falling off of. It is a hot pink thong. Could we please not focus on the technicalities of it? Uff.

[rimi] No no no. The mail was sent to make sure you *read* it. Can’t have us taking digs at you and then you not see it at all, could we? And yes, we *have* seen the BF series. We love too. And yes, the eye. The enigmatic, I-am-too-cool-to-reveal-any-more-of-me-than-my-eye photo.

[Fleiger] Well, given your conclusions about the grey evening gown, high heels and white gloves, I’ll say you’ve got the elegant female party wear bit figured out. And um, your ‘male teacher’ link, points to me? Er what? And what was that bit about the eye?

[Megha] An analytical questioning mind is a perfect side-kick to intelligence. The intelligence completes the analytical mind and vice versa. The technicalities are important since it helps the imagination. So intelligent as we are, we will not be misled by talk of things falling off, when there is nothing to fall off from. A shoulder strap falls off *THE SHOULDER* while a thong.. well you get the general idea behind the analysis! One, being the perfect gentleman that one is, wouldn’t want to elaborate, but the technical question was meant to help the ladies perfect that ever helpful “rouse the imagination” techinique and ergo, come across as the sensitive and understanding type.

[aNTi] Sensitive and understanding, yeah right. [Megha] Haaa.. Somehow, the second after I hit that Submit Comment button the day I commented on gult babes (and Rekha), I knew that someday, my eclectic tastes in cinema will be questioned! From the point of view of my education, I shall proceed to view some contemprory examples of provocative cinema as soon as I can lay my hands on some representative samples. However to clarify further, technically speaking, I can understand “slippage”, but “falling off”? You “slip” down a slope, but you “fall” off a cliff! You see where my concerns stemmed from, with me being a perfectionist and all?

And btw, that black dragon with white gloves is very disturbing. Reminds one of a certain (erstwhile) king of a particular genre of music, particularly if one imagines (against your best wishes, I am sure) that the dragon is chasing after small fish!

Since you started it, I shall close with an explanation once for all. That was the first (and the last) time I watched that sad interpretation of what promised to be a classic! I am sure someone like Ray would have worked wonders with that script. Honestly, I don’t know why Ms. Nair chose the people she chose to play the female leads (No, Rekha was Rekha, no complaints about that!). I would have wanted some more eye candy (no offense!) in a subject like that. Indra Varma, if you noticed, was strangely wooden. Sarita Choudhury looked dry and it seemed to become more about Tara’s attractiveness or the lack there of, than it was about *ahem* her skill(s). So….hush…no more about my taste in movies.!

Loved the proportion of mouth to body in that picture though. Felt just about right. :-).

On eM’s suggestion - think that may be the right way to go, but all this direct talk of thongs, etc. is too banal, besides being somewhat technically inaccurate. I would go with the ‘it’s so hot in this town I keep my panties in the icebox’ line (okay, okay, so you may need to wait till it’s actually summer). Hey, if it works for Marilyn. [aNTi] Your love for Rekha is not being held against you, not to worry. She is entirely worthy of adulation, in my opinion too. I personally found the movie lacking passion and full of wooden acting, with the exception of Naveen Andrews (who by the way, certainly qualifies as eye-candy, although not for you, understandably.)

And yes, we understand your concerns about the technicalities of it all, were even tempted to do *yet another* doodle to illustrate the point, but in the interest of keeping our readership, have decided not to expand further on the matter. But yes, please to accept for the moment that the two phrases are synonymous, and grant us female bloggers the liberty to use them interchangeably. In return, we will try to not hold your lack of education against you.

And hmpfh. The dragon is not soooo ‘Bad’, you vile man. No appreciation for fine art only, I tell you.

[Rajesh] Even with the Loch Ness monster wearing an evening gown and starring in a Michael Jackson video, you still managed a drool? You must *really* like tattoos :)

[Fleiger] Had heard of Sinfest before but never read. Much fun! Thankoo for the link :) And yes, the eye hasn’t changed much. The nose has improved over the years though, don’t you think?

[death] The first question, I’ll leave as an exercise for you and the discerning reader to figure out for yourself. The second question - it means exactly that. That nothing is real, not even reality. Thirdly - No I really can’t. I’ve tried and tried, but it keeps bouncing right back to cuteness. What to do?

[Brat] Tears, dukh ke aansoon and all that, you gutter-brain. How do you think the fish have survived so far? Ufff, the things people will ask.

[Falstaff] Tears. Saline water. Although it would be fun to cry fish and then chase them around for dinner. And er? Excooj me? Whaddya mean proportion of mouth felt just right? Harrumpfh! Are you suggesting that I talk too much? Me? The silent types who speaks only when spoken to?

But I have decided. Based on your suggestion, on certain extra warm days, I shall have a strategically placed icebox image embedded somewhere in my post. Understated subtlety and all that yak.

[Anon] Yay! You noticed the squint! I was starting to get sad that nobody caught that. It is in luuurve, so was meant to suggest starry-eyed-ness. (Ooh, starry-eyed-ness in a starry-eyed Ness!)

Megha - this post is getting hotter (hot pink thong for cryin’ out loud), the dragon on the butt, and Hemant Birje (how do you even think of this stuff) - anyways gotta go, its really hot in here - the 30degrees outside notwithstanding!

aNTi - amazing critique of the dragon - and now I can’t get the image of the white gloves and the small fish out of my mind - very very disturbing image…! This blog keeps getting more interesting!

Nessie must be only half in love — if it were really in love, it would be blind! However, given that Nessie is one of a kind, your argument sounds “fishy”…

[qs.gemini] Ummm..While we shall accept your encomiums with glee, our analytical impulses forces us to indicate the following to you and in doing so, we mean no offense. While there seems to be a factual error in your last statement, noble as we are, we cannot do anything that will make your error, the butt of all attention.

Hey, you look so different from what I imagined. I expected ur hair to be curly!

And it seems like you were not very cute as a child, at least not while crying.

Did you get the tattoo done by a professional? Bcos i think u got a raw deal. The dragon looks like a dog (unless u wanted that!) :)

Hmmm. (ignoring obv shortcuts like patli kamar tirchi nazar mast figger hai vissil)

Will go the aNTi way and sing “aapke kamr e mein koi rehta hai ?”…

Also @ partial view … in interests of World peace, “parde mein rehne do, parda na uththao”

And that was a dragon ? mmm.. strategic location tho…

exit singin comma comma comma Kama Chameleon …

Always the last to join the fray. Incidentally, I’ve been hearing (read ‘reading’) a lot about tattoos, and coming across rather many mysterious-glimpse photographs, of late… A sudden influenza across the blogosphere, eh? In fact, just two days ago, I had myself photographed the tattoo on my arm (not such a hip location, admittedly), albeit for entirely different purposes. However, now that I’ve read this, and been inflicted with the virus myself, I won’t be suprised to find a similar post on my blog, a few days later (it isn’t me, it’s my alter-ego that copies you, honest). The mystery photo bit, I’m not too sure about, since I’m photophobic. Perhaps a pencil sketch would be better. Any brilliant artists willing to give it a shot?

[?! a.k.a D.M] What do you mean the “aNTi way”? Please translate that hindi for us. We don’t know obscure hindi songs. However, on the subject of obscure Tam songs, we rock.. really we do!

[Megha] In the best interests of people like me, you should not let ppl, particularly other chamiya type people break their heads. Pliss to abstain from such posts henceforth!

[Hokie] Well, that is precisely the point. Anu Malik. In his own voice. Mouthing words like ‘Do me a favor, lets play holi’ in a metallic robotic supercomputer voice. Oh madam liked very much. Madam also now knows how to identify you on the street now, since your mugshot is out on the web. So be afraid, be very afraid.

Thenkoo for raapchik rap link. Have already started to share the good news with the world.

[aNTi] I didn’t say your question was technically inaccurate, that you had to point out Falsie stating the same. I was simply telling you stop dwelling on the technicalities and focus on the essence. But with you, that is a pointless exercise, I realize. Nice to see such willingness to adjust for the sake of chamiya log though. Your future is looking bright :)

[Fleiger] Had read both your comic strips posts before, but thank you for the (verified) links again :) On a sidenote, I think you mentioned something about not knowing if Calvin and Hobbes is available to read online, in one of your comments? Here you go!

[qs.gemini] Yep, all that’s remaining is to put the thong ON the dragon, but that might scare the readers away a bit too much. But wait, did you just use the word ‘hot’ and Hemant Birje in the same sentence? Nooooo!

[Anon] If love makes you blind, then unrequited love makes you cross-eyed. So there.

[aNTi] Yes yes, we noticed. But we are choosing not to correct her :)

[Brat] Ah! Pampers sab sukh leta hai, hence dukh ke aansoo. Much brilliant! Thankoo for explaining that one. I am still partial to ‘your enigmaticness’, by the way.

[Raj] Um, you call that straight hair? :) And, kya non-cute kids insaan nahin hote?

I drew the tattoo myself. Wouldn’t have wanted to have it look any other way :)

[?!] Why [aNTi] way? And what song relevance? (Although RD song, so we won’t complain.)

[witnwisdumb] Not very sudden, I must admit. Some of them have been around for more than a year now. I just decided to seek inspiration only now, hence the post. And I need to have a word or two with your alter-ego, am thinking?

[twinkletoes] Am happy it works every time :) And for more details on the hot pink thong, I highly recommend you talk to your resident Pinkoo aka [aNTi]. He seems to be the technical expert on the matter anyway. Plus you guys haven’t batted eyelashes at each other in a while, and this seems like a good ice-breaker. *angelic smile*

[Mahesh] Well, er, um .. lets just say that the experiment didn’t exactly have the desired outcome. Heh heh.

[aNTi] Wait! Obscure? Hello? That is a song from Yaadon Ki Baarat (1973), thank you very much! With music by the loRD. Ain’t nothing obscure about it. Tsk tsk. Although the significance of the song is still a mystery, so we shall wait for [?!] to clarify.

And what is this? You want certain chamiyas to only break their heads when swooning over *you*, not at my posts, is it? Such blatant discrimination. Tchah.

[aNTi] & [?!] Argh. I just got it now! Aapke ke kamr e mein koi rehta hai - Someone lives on your waist! Groan. The ‘[aNTi] way’ must be an allusion to lyrics mutilation, perhaps. Heh heh. Nice!

[?!] Yes yes, we got that. We are reasonably well versed with all things Asha. We were just wondering what the [aNTi] connection was. Hadn’t thought of Georgie Porgie in ages though. Kidhood memories and all. Wonder what the rhyme was about, now that I think about it?

Oh yeah! I’m a bunny rabbit,
‘Ve made ‘looking good’ my habit.
Even if it means I’ve an image
    That ain’t entirely true,
    I’m happy living by it
For, at least I’ll have made an impression
    I wasn’t born with.
    Here, on my blog
    Let me, my rebirth, flog.

My hip is not a tree trunk,
It’s merely a branch you can let hang your praise for me!
    Care to?

‘Wheee! Look at me! I’m such a sprightly bunny rabbit! Don’t you want to be my friend?’

Oh yes. Yes. We do. We all do. (And I am speaking for all of us only. Not all of them)

    [aNTi]

And after what we “see” here on this blog (before this post), I am not sure whether anyone would answer in the affirmative to that Ahem, don’t you want to get to know me more?

Oh but we will you know. We will. We are only trying to gather around all the many us to put forward a comprehensive and united face.

Yes indeedy! By golly! You’re a genius!
You figured I wasn’t born with a tail!
Yep, this is nothing but an modus operandi,
For having gaajar halwa delivered by mail.

Oh wait, didn’t we shout that out already?
Hmm, maybe it was lost in the carrot haze?
Probably why the self-deprecation in this post,
Was mistaken to be an invitation for praise.

The rebirth’s pointless when there’s seventeen of us,
So we’ll pass on the Karan Arjun spiel.
Plus the dragon, the duck, the dog and the porpoise,
Do come together nicely for some great sex appeal.

    [teleute] Thankee :)

[Lak] No biggie. Just too lazy to do it again :)

    [Cherie] Thanks :)

[Ravages] No no, we’re not doing the bunny thing anymore. At least not for the duration of this post. Pliss to be reacting approriately to the hair toss, eyelash flutter, pout and low husky tones instead. Thankoo. (Uff, the things you have to explain to people sometimes.)

[aNTi] Groan. Sigh. No no no aNTi, no no no. That line has worked for only one person on the planet, and he was not even real. Your pink polka-dot shirt has a higher chance of success than that. Uff.

[Rajesh] Yesh! It may or may not be a lot of things, but unique it certainly is! Glad to see it being recognized :) Er, I mean the uniqueness of it, not the tattoo itself.
