Um, erm, oops ..

Birthday cake

.. eeps .. err .. Hello! And Happy Birthday, Bloggy!

Yes yes, it is me. Today is the day this blog (well an almost-dead blog is still a blog, pliss) turns four and since one has never missed a birthday post before, one didn’t want to mess with tradition and all. (Mess with the habit of writing posts to keep the blog alive, sure, gladly so. But mess with tradition? Noooo! Never!)

Yes, I am guilty of all the terrible things you are about to accuse me of and fully deserve every squishy tomato and rotten egg that comes my way. But for now, I just want to say a big heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you who continue to stop by and check in on this blog despite its three-month silence. If you’re still wondering, yes, this blog is alive. (As is the blogger, thankooverrymuj). And the festivities too, shall return. Soon.

Now, eat some cake, give yourself a sugar-high and let us all resume the nonsense! Yay!

Ahem…it’s very nice to see a post from you after so long. Congratulations on completing four illustrious years in the blogosphere. Here’s looking forward to many more. There’s looking behind to see if any one’s following them both.

    Grey dawn.
Tired, wan face, drooped over arm, resting on table.
Gentle wind rustles the dried up flowers and get-well-soon cards on the table.
    Gentle hum of life-support machines.

And then, a “keenk” shatters the peace.

Face looks up, disbelieving. The flatline is replaced by a dancing series of peaks!
    She’s alive!

Rushes to nearby temple, where another is practicin the “khush toh bahut hoge tum” lines.

“Ae , chal, bahut ho gaya nautankii, she’s back”.

Okies. Furstofall, Happy birthday to JB’s bloggie. It is a very nice to turn four. It’s an age where children become obedient and do what elders tell them to do. So pliss to start updating regularly, ok?
Oh what was that? Ah! You still have not figured a way to write yourself?
    Sigh. Only.
We pester. We prod. We plead. We beg. We entice. We ask. We mention. We sulk.
But still no promised posts there be. Pah.
Oh, yeah.. there really was no zecondofall. Only taana. That’s all we have.

Was just about recovering from lappy-toppy.

Though sometimes I get up in the middle of the night sweating, then look at its hideously ugly case and say, “nawwww, not THIS”.

    Now Bloggy ?

    Sigh.

Yappy Budday! ( and all that jazz…)

Have a question: Of all the 4 years if you were to guide a “noob” to follow a particular year, which one would that be. Let me make it easy for you as an objective type question

    (a) Year 1 (Feb1 2004-Feb2005)
    (b) Year 2 (Feb1 2005-Feb2006)
    (c) Year 3 (Feb1 2006-Feb2007)

Yayyyy! Comment responses are back! Happy days are here again! :D

[Sudo Nimus] Thank you thank you! Your sugar-filled delight at my return warms the cockles of my coffee-pumped heart. Now we just need to raid a dairy farm and we’re all set to open a coffee-shop. And lovely pun there. See, this nonsense is precisely what has been missing from my life thanks to not blogging. Yayyyy! It’s good to be back! (Note to self - next year, get sugar-free cake.)

[deitaDi] Thank you for the wishes. But I cannot help ask (albeit with the greatest of hesitation) - Is there a reason you have linked your birthday wishes to Youtube videos of random banian-clad cellphone-toting men, cutting a yellow cake perched precariously atop a cardboard box in an apartment sparsely decorated with plastic chairs, and then proceeding to bump the crap out of his behind? (Oops, that last bit was too literal, perhaps. Never mind.) Is it a subtle commentary on the state of this blog? Is the lone cardboard box symbolic of lone post after three months? Is there a deeper message? Is there a hidden dig? Is there something you are trying to say here? And most important of all - do I even want to know?

[Sighnematic] Oye tired, wan face - now that ‘keenk’ has happened, how about you get up, shave and shower? Do you really want that scraggly mess to be the first thing she sees, having woken up after three months? Shoo! Go make yourself presentable. Uske baad temple-wemple. Remember bhagwaan is antaryami. He is all-knowing, all-telling and all-smelling. So pliss.

[JB] Arrey. You are JB. So by definition, you cannot be my elder! And no no, you cannot pull the ‘I am elder to you by 7 seconds because I howled before you’ routine on me. And see, we wrote birthday post all by ourselves. So proud we are. As proud as we were when we went to school in fourth grade with metal tin full of Cadbury’s Eclairs and Parle’s Kiss Me chocolates and announced to anyone and everyone who didn’t ask - aaj mera happy birthday hai! So there. Hmpfh. She feels no pride only. But from JB, anything she does, we assume to be lou. JB ka har taana sar aankhon par types. So nice we are, no?

[Shaken n Stirred] Arrey! I said ‘bloggy’ on first birthday of blog itself. See?

Jaake, blogger se, nazrein milaoon kaise, ghar jaaoon kaise ?

Laaga chunari mein daag. My veil has a puppy, only.

[Anu] Thank you Anu! It’s been ages indeed.

    [anantha] Gerflunkkt!

[Raj] Aww, thank you. It does deserve better treatment, I agree. Hopefully now that it is older, it’ll get more demanding and start making sure I treat it well :)

[Teleute] Thankoo! And yay! She’s still around! :)

[Born a libran] Good rule in life, that is. We approve thoroughly.

[JB] Oh and we did turn new leaf. We found worm under it, so we hastily put it back like we found it. Now we just try to write leafless posts instead. And yes yes, we had a full moment of sitting in the Grand Appartement de la Reine at the Château de Versailles, making the lofty statement, and then scampering away via a hidden door before the blog-reading mob decided to put our head on the guillotine. Glad JB supports our delusions :)

[Paddy] Ayyo. As it is you all complain that I don’t write enough. So my four years worth of posts should be the equivalent of one year’s posts on a regular blog, no? So why pick a year? Read all four :)

[gvenum] Abe! What invisible post! You are reading this, no? You are commenting on this, no? You are ganging up against me on this, no? Phir kaiku complaining? Pah. And what is wrong with banana leaf? I serve royal feasts on banana leaves, thankyouverrymuch. Hmpfh. No appreciation only.

[meetu] Thankoo! Not posts and birthdays, both? :)

[Sriram] Ayyayyo. No sulk pliss. We are back, no? Smile, no?

[Fleiger] Now now. You should know better than to use big words like ‘mature’ in the same sentence as us. And yes, one shall try for a regular schedule. Although given how those tries have panned out so far, I wouldn’t bet too much money on their success just yet. And thankoo! :)

[JB] Who is this idiot who is giving you a dollar everytime we make a false promise? We wanna know!

[Unmana] Yesh yesh. Post coming up as soon as cake-plate is clean :)

[Indraneel] No no. The cold Boston air has not dissolved the clouds. But erm? Big bosomy blogs? Do I even want to know what you were trying to say? And yes, I will happily don some sacred garb plus a bandana, a la Akshay Kumar and start singing hurray rraaam hurray rraam hurray krishna hurray rraam, along with the alternating-flute-playing-hand-step, if that’s what pleases the crowds. Anything for you nice readers.

[D] Oho! Looky who’s here after a long time! Someone who is willing to admit in public to being a Ricky Martin fan. Hmmm. Nice nice.

[Aqua] Yesh, there’s nothing like an old-fashioned sugar-and-butter overdose to make you forget the woes of getting older. Thank you for the wishes and good to see you around! :)

[deitaDi] You know thinking is work! And you should know how we hate work. Infact our ability to think is like the Great One’s promise to write - potentially there, but rarely executed. Only when one has given all hope - sitting with lone tear rolling down eye, at the imaginary death of a blog, one detects a faint beep- beep- beep of the revived heart beat, thus it is with one’s thinking. So, pliss to understand if interpretation comes late :)

[JB] Yes simple but indeed. You really needed to mention shrimp in the same context, eh? Tsk. We shall not go there. Not go there at all. We are trying to keep this a PG-13 rated blog, as we claimed once, and by golly we shall try.

You are messing with my image big time, I tell you. (Not that there’s anything wrong with it.) Incidentally, the Sailaab number you pick is perfect. You see, Bappi had composed the tune for a Telugu movie Gang Leader (none other than Chiru) and slightly modified the tune for the Sailaab number, the next year. So there’s a Gult angle to my koli-ness. I love it when the dots connect.

[deitaDi] Yes bhadrachalam konda only. You will sing that song for my blog aa? That song is sung to Sai Baba when he tyagofies his body and leaves the world. And you want to sing that song to me and my blog aa? [JB], if those aren’t the metaphors and hints you were asking for, I don’t know what are. Sigh. Sigh baba only.

[JB] Yes, if it is wooing a boy that I want to achieve, I will be better off wearing the Madhuri outfit from Sailaab. Of course, if my goal were to be to rally the tribals into wearing funky headgear and shaking their booty with me, then Vijayashanti’s outfit from Gang Leader is a clear winner. As they say in the corporate world - You don’t dress for the job you have, you dress for the job you WANT to have. True here too :)

[Fleiger] Arrey! Nobody is polite on birthdays! People get drunk and sugar-high and act silly and say stupid things and then regret them for the rest of the year. That’s how it works. And yesh, you really should have known better. You’ve known this blog for more than a year now, right? And yet? Tsk tsk.

[JB1 to JB2] Yes, I still claim to be the elder one. Yes, I did mean those deep in your coffee interpretations you spouted. But just in case [dietaDi] wanted more, I had to clarify that asking me to think is same as asking you to write prolifically. People forget in the JBness we batofied the creativity thusly - you write few good ones, I write plenty as someone we both know puts it - lame ones :P

And yes, dressing for the job - reminds me to remind you Madhuri outfits - like in Khel? That might not be getting any man. Unless you like the hairy kind? heheheeee.

[Megha] Arrey! We did intend to add some depth to our gibberish this time - but you tho nikaalofied wrong meaning only!

The exact context of the song (which, I am soor you know, but I want to make it kilear to your reader janta (espeshally [JB]) before they give out supaaris on my name) is - Sai baba apparently wants to take a break from his job and goes on a vacation. His bhakt log miss him and want him back. They sing they are orphans, life mei locha (ooh.. LML! Vespa! sigh..) without him around. THAT is the meaning we wanted to convey. And you allude to something else.. to quote you - sigh baba only (Soooper wordplay btw!)

[Jobless JB] Ooh ooh. Iddly doo iddly doo is a song we luuurvve. Actually, we really like it quite a lot. Asha has major fun in it and we always approve of songs in which singer is enjoying themselves. But that outfit that Madhuri wears is like Dracula in an evening gown. (Minus the fangs, pliss. Not very fashionable, they be.) Bram Stoker’s Raja. They should make a new movie like that. Good comeback movie it will be for Madhuri. Horror meets musical. But then again the original Inder Kumar Raja was horrifying enough, so maybe a Bram Stoker version is not really necessary.

ps .. JB could be acronym for jobless, no? Not exactly, but it kinda works.

[deitaDi] My Lakhan? Eeks. Much as we like AnilKaps for his dhinkichiki, we have no intentions of making him ours and all. And don’t blame our interpretation for your evil intentions. We saw Sigh Baba (thankoo, we love the pun ourselves) dying and people singing song. We assume you want similar fate for our blog. Any other Sigh Baba bhakt in our name would have interpreted the same. Hmpfh.

ps .. We are the one person who spells your name correctly and you want to kill us only. No justice. None at all.

    [anantha] Zyxygy!

ps .. if you are going to insist on making random noises here, at least supply a dictionary for them. The world will rejoice and feel enlightened.

[Ravages] *watches as my blog runs in slow motion towards SelAm* Bhaiyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaa!

    Arrey wah. Thankoo :)

[theindefatigableguy] You know, if one were to read your ID really really fast, one could confuse it for an independent film starring a fat Clarke Gable. But I guess you didn’t really need to know that. Thank you for the wishes and I am glad you like the stories I spin. Hope to see you around here more often :)

[Fleiger] Ah yes yes, we do like optimists. We like to keep them on standby everytime we feel like putting a pin to a balloon. So we shall not question your lazy hope :)

And about the rallying tribals bit - that was a reference to this video. The discussion was about whose dress sense I should follow - Madhuri in Sailaab or Vijayashanti in Gang Leader and the possible consequences of choosing either. You have vishesh tippani on the matter, surely?

    Belated Happy Birthday Bloggy.
When my Google Reader showed your blog update, I murmured ‘ghost’. That’s what happens when you take long breaks.

Yes, JB is jobless. Jobless is JB. If one thinks of it as French acronym, it makes perfect sense. And considering that bloggie is now phor, we have to broaden its horizens.
I like the idea about a musical Dracula movie, sorta like the Rocky horror show. Hmmm… has potential. Are koi RGV ko phone lagao. This be the perfect comeback after his Daag..ooops. Aag :)
Okies.. now we get coffee and continue spouting nansense here.. Abhi haazir hote hai, break ke baad!

Looks at Lou boy’s comment and exits singing…. Dhankichiki,Dhankichiki..
    Dekha hai pehli baar…

Given a choice, I would say you should go with the dress of the extras in that song… From what I can see in the video, there is a huge hanky to use, plus a pointy thingy on the head to keep you safe. (As as aside, the extras in any song have always been neglected. Must say, not fair) The only negative thing is the laundry bills you would run up, but then, I guess you know how to take care of white dresses. ;)

Incidentally, the description of the video reads “graceful and elegant steps”… I guess I will be watching it again to see if this is a misuse of a “plural”.

We will let go your comment about needles and balloons (that sounds …, well doesn’t sound like what I mean) for now.
